Now, it wasn't like Hollow to allow himself be beat down. However, it was very much like him not to let his possible feelings affect his judgement on the situation too much. It had been unwise to call out the comment in the first place, and he scolded himself for it. Still, the pirate's words insulted him more than he could ever admit. He felt his temper rise deep from his chest until it heated his very brain, but true to his stripe, he cooled it down. No. This required tact more than temper. He forced himself cool.
"Muscle power," he said coolly, "can never hope to outwit the power of the mind." He met Cutter's eyes steadily. "I will not waste my breath any further, either. For the while of this mission, we must work together, to an extent. Mutual respect should be advisable."
It was an offer of peace - of a kind. Hollow's eyes were still hard as ice, and he would not forget the insult. He did now realise, however, that he might have offered an insult born out of unsufficient amount of facts, and thus he was willing to retreat.

Kail smiled and leaned in towards Razz as he gently nipped her shoulder and said she was cute. And she couldn't help but smile at Roxy's reply. Nuzzling Razz briefly, she nipped him back before turning to the confrontation.
At this point, Kail wasn't ready to confront anyone herself - she'd rather get the boat trip mostly finished before any real problems broke out - but if any of the pirates tried to hurt any of the Champions, they would find out very quickly that the sea green peg wasn't nearly as young or as weak as she appeared.
Tensing visibly, Kail wished that she had just gone flying after the other boat and gotten the Rainbow back herself. It might have been possible, especially if they didn't know what they were carrying. But what if they did? The thought made her sick.
"Maybe you can silently tell the Champions to stay away from the pirates for a while?" Kail very softly suggested to Razz, leaning over to whisper in his ear.

"The last I saw you were running for your life."
Coon crinkled her gray nose up under her black patches in thought a moment, before a surprised expression to match Tiger's came about. She laughed loudly, stomping a hoof out of good nature.
"And boy do I got the scars to prove it!," she was quick to make light of the more intense sprints of her life. As if to boost, she shifted her left, hind leg to show a scar, although rather nasty, was hidden well by it's placement and her tail.
"I wouldn't have made it without that diversion of yours. You are a genius, my friend!," her face this time smiled appreciatively. "Rainbows I can't believe the coincidence..."
"I've had it years, but when did you start a new career saving the world?"
"Yeah well, beats jail time.," Coon shrugged nonchalant, "Besides, things were gettin' boring. And a thief my caliber could never turn down the chance to get what we're heading for."
Her teeth showed through in an almost challenging face. A silent invitation to the fun that would be had stealing the Rainbow of Light back.

Razz looked at Roxy and his ears went up. It took a moment and then he laughed.
Turning back to Kail, he asked, "Why would we stay away from the pirates?"
If it hadn't been for Kail's distracting presence, Razz would have been rubbing shoulders with the captain just to get the scoop on all things sea-worthy. It was then that he pushed outward, more than he usually dared with his mind, and Kail's concerns became a little more clear, but it didn't stop him from being himself.
He stood up and marched over to Hollow and Cutter and stuck out his hoof to the pirate.
"Hi, I'm Razzaroo," he said.

Tiger felt confident that Cutter would stand up to the pirates, and then again, Hollow appeared to be backing off. That was good, and got the captain on a better mood. "Yeah well, beats jail time.," Coon shrugged nonchalant, "Besides, things were gettin' boring. And a thief my caliber could never turn down the chance to get what we're heading for." Tiger had to grin, and he slammed his large hoof on Coon's back in a strong friendly slap on the back as he gave a roaring laugh. "Aye!" he said, being on a rather good mood now. "There's sure to be some sabre-clatter, I'm sure of that." He then looked at Coon more closely. "Jail, huh? You have to fill me in on that more later." A little ways off, Hollow stood quietly as Razz offered his hoof to Cutter. He kept his ears drawn back, but made no other hostile move. It was good if another Champion took over for him, to soothe the angry pirate. He wasn't sure how jovial he could be at the moment. [[yeah, Delta, the Champs just arrived in the ship. Hollow remarked something to Cutter which made Cutter bristle and now they're standing face to face, looking all grim. Tiger's talking with Coon, who (as we just discovered ) is an old acquaintance of his, and the rest of the Champs and Quicksand are sort of hanging around. I guess that's a good summary. Best I can do at the top of my hat right now.]]

Bridie-Lee had been standing around, not doing much except giving Hollow's body the occasional eye, for quite a while. She had also been checking out Coon's body, licking her lips now and again, a playful glint in her eye. Choosing between the two of them would be murder, but she was Bridie-Lee, a wh*re of many talents, so if luck went her way she would sleep with both of them.

"For the while of this mission, we must work together, to an extent. Mutual respect should be advisable."
Cutter's temper flared, as it was all too prone to do. Any pony who thought he could waltz onto this ship and give the stallion orders was far out of line, in Cutter's opinion.
"First off, I *must* do nothin'," The red stallion's muscles rippled under his skin, and he spoke in a sharp voice, "Second, this ain't my mission! An' far be it for ye t'be given ME orders, matey.."
"The only thing advisable, is for ye to stay clear o' me. Lest ye fancy finding yourself better acquainted with th' rudder."
"Hi, I'm Razzaroo,"
Cutter snorted indignantly to Razz's polite introduction, and gave Hollow a threatening stare before swiftly whipping his tail and turning his back on the other. The stallion walked with strong steps and an arched neck back to Tiger's side and slightly behind him. Once facing the group again, the red stallion shifted and stamped a large hoof with a resounding -smack-.
The gold pegasus stood toward the back of the group, watching the events unfold with observent eyes. As Cutter and Hollow confronted one another, she held her breath, not mistaking fiery danger in the pirate's eyes.

Roxanne winced at the sound of the pirate's hoof hitting the deck. She was no fool, and if their journey was off to this kind of start, dangerous waters could lie ahead.
Nobody was actually fighting, but she kept a sharp eye out. Stick around, blue. And quietly, so that Jewel could hear, she continued, "I have a feeling these cats are going to need some pulling together - or pulling off of each other - once this production hits the open road."

Hollow winced a little at Cutter's explosion. He had not intended his words for a command, but he chose to keep his mouth tightly shut about that point. He was wise enough to see that it was best to let it lie at that point. He turned his ears backwards a bit sheepishly, but gave no other sound of acknowledging his mistake of provoking the red stallion.
He did not yet notice Bridie Lee's eyes on him.
Tiger, for his part, was feeling that things were not going well at all as Cutter stomped back near him. Having a hot-tempered streak himself, he understood well his second mate's feelings, but his responsible side was very sober of the situation. He would have told Hollow to turn right around and get off his ship had he been able to. He didn't like disruptive behaviour on his ship. But unfortunately, these fellows were paying them, and Hollow's presence would give them a bag of gold. So he would stay.
Tiger tossed his head a little, and directed his eyes now on all the Champions. He decided it was time to settle some issues right away.
"Let's make one thing clear right now, right here," he said with a low, meaningful voice. It annoyed him that he had not established who was the leader among the group, but he chose to address the lot of them jointly. That, at least, should catch them all. "My second mate here's absolutely correct. No one here gives any of my crewmembers orders except for me! I run this ship, and if any of you have a problem with that," he eyed Hollow meaningfully, "let's hear it right now."
Hollow kept his ears back, but this time they were in the angry position, and he narrowed his eyes and lowered his head in subconscious show of aggression, but he said nothing. He had his pride. He would not allow it be stomped too much. And he lacked one very crucial part of common pony personality - fear.

Kail winced as Razz made his way over to Cutter. He couldn't have choosen a pony that wasn't in a fight at that moment? Rainbows, she should have made the Queen MAKE one of the larger ships take the group, if only the Queen had been in the right state of mind to send such a message.
"My second mate here's absolutely correct. No one here gives any of my crewmembers orders except for me! I run this ship, and if any of you have a problem with that," he eyed Hollow meaningfully, "let's hear it right now."
Kail had gotten them into this mess, so she felt she better be the one to speak up. "Sir, the only thing we ask is that you take us to wherever the other ship goes. Drop us off safely and you will have your gold. Aside from that we comand you nothing, and I will see to it that everyone in my group understands that." She nodded at Tiger, but didn't bother to turn to her own group. They already knew what they were here to do, and it wasn't to fight with pirates. Not these pirates anyways.
(OOC: after today I'm internet-less at home until Monday, so I wont be on at all this weekend unless I cruise on into work.)

((Job hunt... Crap, crap, CRAP!!! I am SO far behind, sorry! I'm posting right now, and I'll try to keep up!))
The unmistakeable arrival of the first mate was signaled as a twisting spire of water blasted from the sea behind the ship, as Gan Ning, his chestband linded with bells, chimed as he snaged a rope, and swung gracefuly down to the deck, only to miss his landing and fall head first into a barrel on it's side. Standing with the barrel on his head, he looked side to side. "Right, one of my WORST landings, but I swore it was still daylight!"
A framiler gust of wind trailed through Kail's mane, instantly alerting the mare to a certain family friend's arrival. Three flashes of light traced the barrel, as it fell off the Sea Stallion's head, in three neatly sliced pieces. "The landing sucked, yes, but your movements into it was impressive." Looking up at the underside of the mast's flag poles, a white stallion with a trace of navey on the left side of his face stood, clinging to the underside of the thick wood like it was the deck. Gan Ning smirked as he drew his sword. "Well, been ages since I've seen a ninja face to face."
Leaping down, Dark landed with his sword drawn, his scarf trailing gracefuly. "I take it you are the famous Pirate Swordsman, Gan Ning?" The aqua stallion smirked again as he nodded. "The same. From your blade, your a Moon Falls Ninja, aren't you?" Dark silently nodded as his neon green eyes remained locked with Gan Ning's. "Good eye. So, it's clear we both are among the only surviors of the Red Sunland's destruction." Both placed their swords togethor, the fla sides touching. "Glad to know there are more showing up." Gan Ning then openly grinned in his own, personaly demented way. "Welcome aboard, Blood Brother!"
The two stallions openly laughed as they put their blades away. "So, you with them, or you paying your own way?" Gan Ning's responce came as a large ruby landed at his feet, clearly of great worth. Holding up the gem, the First Mate glanced to Tiger. "What do ya say, Cap? Room for one more of my kind?"

"Aye! There's sure to be some sabre-clatter, I'm sure of that." He then looked at Coon more closely. "Jail, huh? You have to fill me in on that more later."
"Oh yes, I've made a check list, and I grantee you that 'saber-clatter' is among the top!," Grinningly, she added with a devious tone, "Of course, it was beaten by a friendly game of rum running."
Ah, when could Coon Skin ever turn down the opportunity to sample a fine drink? It wasn't every day she had something beyond the out of the ordinary stolen case of beer. Not that Stokely didn't keep a fine selection stocked up in her beaten down fridge, it was just that Coon failed to restock it, so to speak.
She had also been checking out Coon's body, licking her lips now and again, a playful glint in her eye.
Chuckling to her comment, she turned her head and caught the appearance of Bridie. For a moment, she paused as if not to notice, but once she saw the sizing up made to her, Coon couldn't help but smile. The masculine mare gave her the same form of attention, managing her own form of a 'come hither.'
Sidedly, Coon directed to Tiger in a hushed tone, "Who's the broad?"
Oh yes, this trip would be wonderful.
(ooc: rum running? Have no clue what it is, but thought it sounded nice there. And Delta, Coon is more than willing for a little hankie pankie XD)

[[whew, lots to do for Tiggy... not that I'm complaining ]] "Sir, the only thing we ask is that you take us to wherever the other ship goes. Drop us off safely and you will have your gold. Aside from that we comand you nothing, and I will see to it that everyone in my group understands that."As it was Kail who spoke out, Tiger assumed that she was in charge. She had been the one to hire them, in any case, and in every way appeared to be in charge. Tiger nodded to her, happy, though he did direct one more suspicious glance to Hollow. He didn't trust these Champions to even sort out between themselves who should be in charge. Hollow, however, felt it fairly easy to retreat now that Kail had answered for him, and thus took a decided step back, closer to Jewel, and took on a less aggressive pose. That satisfied Tiger. Sidedly, Coon directed to Tiger in a hushed tone, "Who's the broad?"Tiger blinked and glanced at the thief. His eyes followed Coon's to Bridie. Realising what was going on, he was less than pleased. A ruffle went through his mane, and his expression was just slightly less friendly as he looked at Coon. Though mostly unconscious, his jealousy had not decreased at the sight of the new mares. Bridie was his girl. "A crewmember," he said sternly. He would have continued farther, had not Gan Ning and his strange friend appeared at that point. Tiger bristled again. What? More new ponies? "What do ya say, Cap? Room for one more of my kind?"Tiger turned now to regard Dark and Gan Ning. Coon's obvious flirting with Bridie - and her flirting back - and all the mess with the Champions was making him in less than good mood. In fact, his face was rather sour as he examined the new stallion. He had never trusted magic. He had never trusted any higher forces than his own sabre's strength. In fact, he pretty much disliked everything related to magic. It was enough that he had accepted Quicksand onto the ship, and it was only Gan Ning's reliability as the first mate and the fact that Tiger considered him his friend that the captain even trusted Gan Ning. "One of your kind?" Tiger asked darkly. He was not on a good mood, and when he was on this mood, there was not much arguing with him. He tossed his tail. "No," was his blunt, unfriendly answer. "No more magic and funny business on my ship. I've had enough of Rainbows and Princesses and whatnot." He looked at Dark, nodding a little. "Pleased to meet you, if you are a friend of my first mate. But right now I have enough of strangers on my ship already."
