Roxanne grinned at Jewel, looked her in the eyes fondly, and winked. That was the best she could do, really.
She downed a sea roll in one bite and then stuck another one in front of Jewel's face. "Killer, mate!" And she called over to Coon, "Wotcher! Dunno if I should risk that stuff, eh?"

Tiger wasn't sure exactly what to think of how Roxanne dodged his hoof, but didn't take it personally. Well, it was only the first day, after all. He'd have his chances yet. He started eating with as much enthusiasm as the rest of them, and laughed at Coon's grin merrily.
"Aye, only the best for me and my mighty crew," Tiger said and then raised up his mug in the air and announced: "A toast for the mission and its success!"
Hollow Heart had smiled to Jewel briefly and followed her to the table, but he had not joined in the laughter of the others. His keen eyes were going round the table and noticing something.
He frowned and leaned in to the closest ponies.
"Where are Kail and Razzaroo?" he asked, frowning. Razz hadn't looked especially well the last time he had paid attention to the purple pony. Kail had said she was going to go out scouting. He wondered if she had left without saying anything to anyone. All very well with her, but where was the purple stripe? He didn't think he had seen the pony coming up on the deck with the rest of them. And he was nowhere to be seen now.

She downed a sea roll in one bite and then stuck another one in front of Jewel's face. "Killer, mate!"
The gold pegasus' eyes went wide, then crossed as the roll appeared directly in front of her. She blinked her eyes back into focus and took the roll gratefully. Holy Rainbows, these were good!
As Tiger proclaimed a toast, the mare lifted her ale-less mug with the rest, but didn't say anything. She wasn't about to become intoxicated with the likes of these pirates, and still wasn't sure what to think of them.
"Where are Kail and Razzaroo?"
Jewel turned an ear to Hollow, then his words set in and she nearly choked on her sea roll. Swallowing heavily, she frowned at her plate in thought. Kail had mentioned flying ahead.. had she gone? That was possible, though she was missing dinner.. and Jewel had planned to tag along at least a little bit.. but it wasn't as if they had set plans or or anything.
That made plausible sense as to Kail's wherabouts, but what of Razz? He couldn't fly, or wink, or anything of the sort.
Suddenly, images of a rampant imagination flashed through Jewel's mind--of Razz being held captive, or murdered, or some such by these pirate types. She knew in her heart however, this wasn't the case.
"I'll see if I can find him," The pegasus replied quietly to Hollow, turning to look at him. She then settled back into her thoughts. Having the power most similar to Razz's own (among the Champions), she didn't predict trouble in calling out to him. Even though she wasn't a telepath, there was a good chance he might be able to hear her thoughts if they were loud enough.
Jewel concentrated on the purple pony, and called his name in her mind. Razz? ... Razzaroo? Um.. if my thoughts are getting through.. where are you? Kail is missing too.
"I think I know where Kail went," the pegasus spoke again to Hollow, not looking up from the food she was still consuming, though she ate rather like a bird. Jewel had half a mind to follow the other pegasus after dinner.

"Goldy," Coon dotingly called back to Roxanne. She happily drifted back to the table, opposite to the other's seat. She then leaned over, or, well, rather flopped her upped half down on elbows in emphasis. In all the fun, Coon mimicked the pirates language, "Ye have not lived ifn' yew haven' had a big swig'a d'ese..."
She temptingly plopped the remainder of her mug before Roxy and winked at her, before crowing in laughter as she returned to hovering around the room to pick out more of a meal.

Roux had been absent for sometime. The brown stallion was happy to be aboard a ship again, any ship. The way the boat rocked in the waves, the taste of the salty air, sun beating down upon his back and the horizon stretched out in front like it would never end.
The faint smell of something delicious had beckoned the stallion from where he had been standing the past few hours. Slowly he left the rail and made his way down the stairs to the galley.
After a quick scan of the room he walked to an empty seat and sat down. Reaching for a sea roll, he nodded his head towards the Captain before picking it up. Teeth sunk into the roll; it was only after the first bite had entered his stomach that the stallion realized just how hungry he truly was.

Roxanne grinned at Jewel's eye-cross. She was glad the pegasus still had some happiness in her. They'd need their good natures for whatever lay ahead, she was sure.
She turned as Coon appeared in front of her, and cocked her head happily when the pony broke into piratical speech. "Not a bad tongue for it, cat! You could steal the show from any seadog!"
An eyebrow went up at the appearance of the mug... she hadn't drunk much lately, and (a sideways glance at Tiger) she didn't want to lose complete control of herself in this environment... but it was sure tempting.
"No weird diseases, right?" She called to Coon, lifting the mug up.
[[OOC: Does Roxy know Coon's gender yet? *laughs* I don't remember whether she's figured it out or not!]]

Hollow had been keeping a close eye on Jewel as she tried to contact Razz. He wasn't really feeling like eating and having fun, and he was slightly concerned over the two missing Champions.
"I think I know where Kail went," the pegasus spoke again to Hollow, not looking up from the food she was still consuming, though she ate rather like a bird.
Hollow's ears swivelled around.
"She left out to scout, didn't she?" he asked at once, guessing and deducing more than knowing for sure. He glanced at the others, merrily going about their dinner, trying not to attract their attention to the conversation between himself and the pegasus.
Tiger was in the process of drowning his worries into a tankard. A thing his crew would have known not to be a good sign. When he got drunk he usually also eventually got very depressed, and in that state he was in no shape to lead them well.
[[hint hint to any old member of the crew who might want to try and steady the Captain's hoof with the tankard...]]

The pegasus frowned briefly before softening her expression for the sake of the others around them. "Razz either didn't hear me, or just isn't responding," She said to Hollow quietly.
"She left out to scout, didn't she?"
Jewel nodded, "Yes.. but it just concerns me that she went alone. I.. I could have gone with her.." She trailed off, shaking her head to insist it wasn't an important thought. The pegasus poked at her food some more, partaking in another sea roll.
Cutter, as usual, had an eye on the captain. He took it upon his responsibility to act as a primary bodyguard, the first who might take a sword for Tiger's sake (and being so large, the injuries mattered less). Though he didn't say much, Cutter was always watching.
It struck him as concerning to see the captain drink so heartily on only the first night of their voyage. Something was amiss, and it seemed Tiger was trying to drown himself out of whatever it was.
"'Ere, Cap," Cutter produced a new mug filled not with ale, but with a very strong-tasting fruit-based juice that a drunk pony could easily mistake for something alcoholic, "Somethin' from the ...special reserves."

Hollow eyed Jewel intently, picking up on the little hints in her tone and words. She wanted to go as well. Well, she was the only pegasus on board, she was the only one who could go, anyway. Hollow considered the situation for a goodly while before replying anything. On the other hoof, it was not wise to allow a Champion go off alone like that, but on the other hand - as he still felt - Jewel was one of the most vulnerable of the Champions on board. She was the seer, after all. Hollow was of the strong opinion that it was not safe for her to wander on her own, albeit that she had been resurrected once and presumably was a strong mare, capable of handling herself. But what if a premonition caught her unawares? Hollow felt he couldn't allow such a risk.
Since when it had become Hollow's business to allow or disallow risks for Jewel, did not pass through the corn-coloured stallion's mind.
A black muzzle nudged the pegasus gently.
"From what I have heard, and am coming to know Kailani Hoofspen, she is a very capable mare, well equipped to take care of herself." Hollow paused. "I would advice you not to go after her. She is fairly invulnerable for her powers, but your powers add to the possibility you may be hurt. I fear you might be a burden to her rather than a help." He paused. "Besides, as cold as it may seem, losing one Champion in a dangerous scouting mission is tolerable. Losing two can be tragic. I feel we would do better to find Razz." He lowered his voice even more. "I do not fully trust these pirates, and if he is not responding, something may have happened to him."
"'Ere, Cap," Cutter produced a new mug filled not with ale, but with a very strong-tasting fruit-based juice that a drunk pony could easily mistake for something alcoholic, "Somethin' from the ...special reserves."
Tiger, who was not conscious of the fact that he was beginning to over-indulge himself with the ale, smiled to Cutter, rather in surprise, but obviously in a pleasant one.
"Why, thank you, Cutter," he said and nodded to his second mate. He tasted a sip, tossed his head for the strong taste and then grinned. "Aye, where would we be without your potions, my friend!"
Good-natured and determined to enjoy himself, Tiger continued eating, oblivious to the true implications of Cutter's offer of drink but gulping down the liquid nevertheless.

"From what I have heard, and am coming to know Kailani Hoofspen, she is a very capable mare, well equipped to take care of herself."
Jewel nodded, not looking at Hollow, but rather staring at her plate. She agreed with his statement.
"I would advice you not to go after her. She is fairly invulnerable for her powers, but your powers add to the possibility you may be hurt. I fear you might be a burden to her rather than a help."
The peg's ears flattened a moment before swiveling forward again. Did he think her weak? Or incapable? Jewel opened her mouth to speak, then shut it again. Defensive as she felt at that moment, she reminded herself to think before she spoke.
"I hope you mean that her power of healing keeps her safer than my power of seeing does for me," She glanced sideways at the stallion, voice cool and controlled, "Because if it was an inference that I'm not strong enough, I'm afraid you're quite mistaken."
The pegasus took a bite of her dinner, trying not to mull over things too much in her mind. Of course she was strong and capable--why else would the Rainbow have chosen her? Perhaps Hollow had a stallion complex. And maybe that would explain how protective he seemed to be of her for how short a time they had really known each other. The two options the peg saw in her mind at that moment were that he was either protective of the 'lesser sex', or he really did think she needed protecting regardless.
Angry as she might have been with any other stallion, she couldn't even make herself be so with Hollow. For his actions really weren't offensive. If nothing else, it was comforting to feel watched over by someone, regardless of needing it or not. And though she was far from realizing it, it was something that drew Jewel to the stallion.
"...I feel we would do better to find Razz." He lowered his voice even more. "I do not fully trust these pirates, and if he is not responding, something may have happened to him."
Jewel nodded in agreement, not openly expressing any concern, to save face among the others. In an equally low tone, she responded, "It's worrisome that Razz isn't responding to me, and isn't even here with the rest of us," She paused, "And having both Kail and Razz missing is making me just the slightest bit uneasy."
((Becka and Sil, if there's anything for Jewel to 'see'... heh. Feel free to let me know!))
"Why, thank you, Cutter," he said and nodded to his second mate. He tasted a sip, tossed his head for the strong taste and then grinned. "Aye, where would we be without your potions, my friend!"
The large stallion smiled briefly, "Yer plenty welcome, Cap," and unsuspiciously returned to his seat. Well, that's disaster avoided fer one night.

"I hope you mean that her power of healing keeps her safer than my power of seeing does for me," She glanced sideways at the stallion, voice cool and controlled, "Because if it was an inference that I'm not strong enough, I'm afraid you're quite mistaken."
Hollow drew his ears back a little sheepishly. Oh, dear. He could identify a half-reprimand when he heard one. He realised only now how she might take his words, and decided on trying to correct the situation at once.
Hollow nodded, he had already picked up on the certain dynamics between the Champions, and concluded that Kail and Razz were the most prominent members of the seven heroes.
"Perhaps we should go see if we can find him," he said. "The last I saw him was below deck where he and Kail came to meet us when we were going to see the Captain. Perhaps we might do well to start from there."
Feeling he owed her an explanation of his earlier words, he reached over to touch her neck gently, a bit of a awkwad nuzzle.
"And... no, I would not doubt your strength or courage, Jewel," he said, speaking her name with a warmth he had not recognised in his voice for a long, long time. "I only meant that your powers of premonition are unpredictable. Should you be caught by a strong premonition in the middle of a dangerous situation... I could not live with myself would I allow you to take such a risk." Realising that he had let slip too much of his personal feelings on the matter, he reverted quickly to a more professional expression and cleared his throat. "What I mean to say... you are too valuable... to the mission, to be risked like that."
He wasn't sure, however, if he managed to salvage anything by that correction.

Coon, despite all the heaviness in the atmosphere wafting from the corner Jewel and Hollow had been inhabiting, was well off in a tipsy, gleeful, drunken bliss. Many things contributed to this. The first, foremost, and the largest factor being whatever strong drink was about. The second, a full belly comprised of something other than the cheep cans of beans or corn she was known to carry in her bag. And the third...
Heck, Coon didn't need a third. She was just plain happy. If she was sober, maybe she'd chalk it up to a get out of jail almost free pass.
Regardless, after making for a satisfied stomach, Coon now sat atop on of the table with another full mug of the "joy juice" and a huge, if not dopy, grin on her face. In this state, she couldn't help but recall the time she'd seen a human being the first time in her life.
"Well, you know, one day I just mooooved into this town, see? Ya see? No, I mean with your eyes, see," Coon bulged her eyes for emphasis, "Then all the sudden I trip and what do I find? I find this weird, and I'm thinking birth defective, pony. Just lyyyying there, like she OWNs the place...."
(heh heh, do you all remember that?)

(I'll post this in both threads just in case...)
Razz, I've found the locket. I think I can get it back if I'm lucky.
(hehe, I remember that - it was during the first war!
And Jewel can "see" Kail climbing into the other ship if she wants to have a vision.)

[[OOC: I actually do remember that!]]
Roxanne tipped an ear forward, feeling vaguely alarmed at where she thought Coon's story might lead. That had been news which had creeped her out; she didn't like to think of other intelligent life besides ponies in the universe.
Roxy turned and called to Coon, pretending she hadn't heard the first part of the story and didn't know Coon was talking already. "Hey Coon, what's the worst thing you've ever stolen?" And she grinned cockily at the drunken pony.

"Perhaps we should go see if we can find him," he said. "The last I saw him was below deck where he and Kail came to meet us when we were going to see the Captain. Perhaps we might do well to start from there."
The pegasus nodded, in full agreement that it would be best to find Razz as soon as possible. "Yes."
"And... no, I would not doubt your strength or courage, Jewel," he said, speaking her name with a warmth he had not recognised in his voice for a long, long time. "I only meant that your powers of premonition are unpredictable. Should you be caught by a strong premonition in the middle of a dangerous situation... I could not live with myself would I allow you to take such a risk."
The pegasus nodded her approval at what she recognized as a gentle apology, but her mind caught upon the last of Hollow's words. As she had grown to realize was the wiser thing to do, the mare said nothing at first. Am I really so valuable to this mission that Hollow feels some need to protect me? He just said that he doesn't doubt my capabilities.. so why.. If a lightbulb could have appeared over Jewel's head, it would have, Oh dear. But no, no.. that couldn't be right. He's Hollow Heart. He can't.. could he?
"What I mean to say... you are too valuable... to the mission, to be risked like that."
Hm. Mixed Signals 101. (inward sigh) In any case, it won't do me any good to keep my thoughts here. After all, I have Peri, so it shouldn't even be an issue. And yet, Jewel did find it difficult to push the idea from her mind.
A moment later, she had a little help, via an Indigo vision.
A sea green pegasus sat aboard a ship, but not one recognized by the golden pegasus. Strange ponies were about, ones that by their appearance looked far from friendly and inviting. Especially at that moment, when it seemed as if the tide had just turned away from Kail's favor.
"Kail's on the other ship!" The pegasus blurted out amidst the dining ponies once she had snapped back to the present. Her expression was neither that of relief or encouragement,
