Tiger walked across the deck of his ship to the railing and looked out to the harbour. Dream Valley looked like the kind of place he might leave the ship for a while. He stretched out his muscles, smiling contendedly. It was good to get to a port for a while.
He turned to look at his crew, busy in steering the ship into the docks.
"Alright, crew!" he called out to them. "Once we've got the ship docked up, have the rest of the day for yourselves! See what Dream Valley has got to offer! Just be back early tomorrow morning. Anyone who's late'll get to swim."
And don't get yourselves in trouble, he added in his mind, sighing. He rather avoided needless trouble in port, because there was always the issue about getting the ship quickly off the docks in case an angry mob decided they didn't want the pirates there any longer. There was no point getting people killed for a stolen carrot or something as ridiculous as that.
To himself Tiger wondered if Bridie would mind some fun when they got to the docks. It had been a long while out in the sea, and as the captain he didn't have much time for entertainment while on the road, so to speak. He tried to search out her eyes to throw a meaningful look her way and test if she was on the mood.
[[uggh, not one of my best posts, but here it is so we can actually get this party on the road]]

Pippi walked along the port, with Mr. Neilson on her back. She looked around. "Hmm, well, it's not that crowded here yet, Mr. Neilson, but with all of the pirates coming, it'll probably be quite crowded." She said with a giggle.
Mr. Neilson nodded, and went back to sleep. Pippi sighed as she walked onto the ship that the good pirates were sailing on. She couldn't wait til they were sailing. Pippi smiled. She looked out to sea. She could feel the soft breeze blow her mane. She walked over to the other side of the ship and watched the ocean breeze blow the water around. The purple mare smiled. She loved the ocean. And she certainly loved sailing it.
Pippi then remembered a song her father taught her when she was 11. She started to sing:
"Life is a breeze, we live it for fun. No apologies to anyone. We live on the seas, we do as we please."
The purple mare giggled. She looked around and noticed the captain was not too far away. She wondered if she should go talk to him, since she was bored. She has never been bored before! Pippi sighed, watching the ocean.

Quicksand trotted confidently on board - at least, she was trying to appear confident. She was really quite nervous, but knew it was less than wise to let anyone else know that.
The mare's deep blue eyes skimmed across the deck and rested on a pony that must have been the captain. Patting her parrot with one hoof for luck, she took a deep breath and trotted up to him.
"Excuse me, sir? I'm here to ask about a position on this ship." She inwardly flinched after saying this - she had the fromal mindset and had ended up sounding like she was at a job interview. Great job, Quicksand. Very pirate-like.

Bridie-Lee trotted rythmically across the ship, eyeing each of her fellow ship-mates in turn. When her gaze turned to the captain, and he shot her a meaningful look, she raised her eyeridge and smirked, then slowly nodded. Heck, she could do with a little fun.
When she turned to find Pippi singing, she flicked her ears back. Great. She thought dully. Just what we need, a singing pirate. Talk about giving us pirates a bad - uh, I mean good - name.
Bridie sidled over to Pippi, and said in her sweetest voice, "Hi Pippi. What was that song you were singing?"
How I would love to give this mare a shove overboard.

A burly crimson stallion was seen at the foot of one of many loading planks along the ship's side. Cutter stood behind a large wooden box of supplies, glancing up the loading ramp. As soon as he was sure there weren't any ponies in the way (well, if there were.. he'd fix that anyway) and then, clenching his teeth, the muscular pirate stallion pushed his shoulder against the heavy box, and with little strain, slid the box up the ramp and into the waiting hooves of the ponies who would take it below deck.
Once he made it to the top of the ramp, and the box nearly squashed its recepients, Cutter caught Tiger's eye contact, and nodded with a mysterious half-grin that showed one of his gold teeth. The idea of a new adventure always stirred up excitement in the stallion. With a swish of leather-bound tail, he walked powerfully back down the ramp to retrieve the next box headed towards cargo.

Tiger caught Bridie's nod and smiled to himself. He followed the mare with his eyes, until another mare suddenly appeared in view - in very close view, actually. He stared down to her, blinking a few times in surprise. He'd never seen her before.
"Excuse me, sir? I'm here to ask about a position on this ship."
Tiger raised an eyebrow to the formal speech of the mare. Well, she did have a parrot, and she did appear somewhat professional, so he figured to give her the benefit of doubt. Inwardly he sighed, thinking that the pickings on good crew had really grown slim of late - and at that thought, he threw a meaningful look towards Pippi. Such a cheerful mare, and now there were coming more of them, it seemed. What had happened to the good old times when men of steel ruled the seas and so on and so forth?
Then again, he smirked as a new thought entered his mind: all the mares on board might make life quite interesting for the stallions.
"I see," he answered to the unicorn, grinning so that his teeth showed - there were a few missing from the left side, but he didn't care much. Most of the pirates missed a few decorations - legs, ears, tails, that sort of thing. What was a couple of teeth in that? "And what's your credentials, lassie?"

The purple mare suddenly turned around to see a pony talking to her. She smiled. "Oh, hi. I didn't notice anyone was listening to me singing. Well, it was a song my father taught me a long time ago." She replied. "So, are you looking forward to sailing? I sure am!" Pippi said cheerfully.
She turned to see some of the other pirates. She was hoping they would be able to sail soon. She couldn't wait to be out on the seas. She turned to her pet monkey, whom was still sleeping.
She turned back to Birdie Lee, waiting for a reply.

"And what's your credentials, lassie?"
"Uh...I...well..." Quicksand shot the captain a pleading look and said, "I can work very hard! Oh - and I can do this."
She waved a hoof at the deck of the ship a little ways off and a patch of quicksand appeared. The mare flinched as a barrel sank into its depths. "...And, of course, I can pay you for that."

Tiger raised an eyebrow at the disappearing barrel. He was a little displeased at part of his ship being turned into a quicksand-trap, but he had to admit that the power would come in handy. One corner of his mouth twitched up and he started nodding.
"Aye, we could use that," he said, then looked down at the mare more sternly. "Just one thing for you to understand, lassie - no practicing that stuff on the ship. If I start hearing that crewmembers or supplies have been disappearing in... odd circumstances, you'll be the first one I'll question. There are rules on this ship, and if you break them, I'll chop you up and feed you piece by piece to the sharks, and no quicksand ain't gonna help you then."
He frowned all over her, hoping that would scare her enough so she'd understand this was a pirate ship, not a playground.

"Yes, I really am looking forward to sailing!" Bridie said perkily, but the moment Pippi looked away her smile was replaced with an 'oh-dear-god' look. Her smile returned when Pippi's gaze came back to her.
"Oh! Your monkey is adorable! What was his name again?" She said sweetly, cocking her head a little. I'll throw that monkey to the sharks the moment we set sail...

This wasn't going at all as she'd hoped it would. Nice. "Oh, I've got no experience but trust me - I can work hard. And I've got this nifty power that's almost always useless - but it CAN endanger your equipment and crew! So...have I got the job?""Right. Of course - sorry!", Quicksand babbled as she made the quicksand disappear. And now I sound like a weakling. Well, this afternoon has been just peachy. Then she stopped herself before the patch of quicksand was totally gone. She thought she knew a way to prove herself. The mare edged away from the captain. "But then, I've always wondered..." Without giving it another thought, the unicorn dove headfirst into the quicksand.

Pippi could sense that Birdie didn't really mean to be nice. She just smiled. "Well, his name is Mr. Neilson." She replied, trying to be nice. She had wished she hadn't got stuck talking to this pony. She remembered hearing about Birdie Lee, and how selfish and snotty she was.
The purple mare saw a pony was diving into....quicksand. She tilted her head. She turned back to Birdie. "Well, I'm gonna go see what my friend is up to. See ya!" The red-haired mare said. She then trotted to Quicksand.
Once she approached the unicorn, Pippi tilted her head. "Are you alright?" She asked, a bit confused. "You know, that's dangerous diving into quicksand. You could sink in that stuff you know."

Quicksand's parrot had fluttered off of her shoulder just before the mare had plunged beneath the depths of the quicksand, and now was hovering above that part of the ship.
He squawked indignantly a few times before spotting Pippi and settling down next to her monkey.
((Thanks for the edit, Angel!))

Mr. Neilson woke up suddenly and turned to face the parrot.
Pippi giggled at Mr. Neilson. "It's alright, little one! It's just a parrot!" She said to her monkey.
She then noticed that the captain was standing there. "Oh, I'm sorry! I guess I didn't see you there, sir!" She said. "So, you must be the captain?" Pippi could feel her cheeks turn a bit red. She felt embarrased a bit.

Bridie watched with an eyeridge raised as Pippi trotted away. She smirked with satisfaction.
"Well," She said to herself. "At least she knows to keep away from me..." She giggled a little. "B*tch."
Bridie-Lee was used to this reaction from the female pirates that she met. Most of them, no, wait, all of them hated the mare that was Bridie. The male pirates on the other hand... They seemed to like Bridie. Alot.
The white mare trotted pasted the captain, letting her tail brush against the stallions legs as she went past.
