Kail paced back and forth across the living room floor as her father read and her mother gardened outside. She was nervous. Much more nervous than when the false gods had shown up; much more nervous than when the Dark Rainbow started taking prisoners and killing everyone. Both times the Rainbow of Light had saved them, but this time, it was the Rainbow that was in trouble.
"My dear," Canto sighed as she paced, "that is not going to make them show up any faster. Why don't you go drown you mind in tv with your brother."
Kail shot her father a look that said she would rather drown period than watch tv with Comet.
He shrugged, "well, at least your not bored anymore."
She couldn't help but smile at that. He was right - at least she wasn't bored any longer. "I'm sorry, I'm just worried is all."
"Well, why don't you stop worrying about the locket and give your sister a call. I'm sure she will want to know what is going on and why you wont be coming home as soon as expected." Canto lifted his eyebrows in suggestion and expectation. His daughter was a homebody, but she didn't know how to relax. She never had really - Kail loved to stay at home and read, but she was always moving a hoof or tapping on the table or something similar.
"Yes, Karma. I aught to do that." Kail stopped pacing and walked over to the kitchen phone to start dialing.

Smiling when Sherbet answered the phone instead of one of the adult, it quickly left her face as Kail explained what was going on to Karma. It seemed a case of last spring sniffles was going through the nursery, and she was happy there was at least one healer there in her place.
Hanging up the phone, Kail turned back to pacing the living room. Still no word from the Champions. She wished Razz would at least give her a quick "hello, we're on our way" but it seemed there would be none of that... or they hadn't started on their way yet.
"Kailani," Her fathers stern and tired voice came from behind his book on the couch. "If you insist on doing that, would you go outside and pace around your mother?"
"Sorry dad," she said with a quick smile and kissed him quickly on the forehead before walking outside to where the sea-green pegasus was once again gardening. "I was banished to the veggies for trotting a circle around the carpet in the living room."
Her mother looked up with a smile, "your father didn't mean it. But come, help. I'll let you take all your frustrations out on the weeds."
Kail gave a halfsmile herself and knelt next to the identical (but very much older and slightly thicker) body and started to pull the weeds, throwing them into a large pile at the side.
Her mother made idle talk while they worked. "I'm sorry I don't still have any of my old weapons to lend you. I've got the suit of course, but that wont do you any good. Any pegs in your group of friends?"
Kail shrugged, "I've no idea who the two newest are, so I couldn't say. And no offense, but I don't like any of your magic arrows or any such thing. I nearly killed Razz with them already." The already sober peg grew even more serious at the memory of that day - holding him while he was as good as dead, thinking it was all her fault. "Besides, I have a dagger I always take with me."
"Oh is that so?" Bella raised her eyebrows at her daughter.
Kail shrugged, "it comes in handy when you're me."
"Indeed."

They knelt silently and weeded the garden until Kail suddenly jerked up and turned around. She could have swore she heard Razz say he was coming. She got the distinct impression of an air ballon and smiled - they were coming by air! They would get here so much faster that way!
With a happy sigh of relief, Kail bent back down to continue weeding as her mother looked at her out of the corner of her eye knowingly.

Forget-Me-Not passed by on her daily wanderings. As always when she saw old friends, the flutter called a cheerful hello. And they were gardening! Splendid...

Just before Forget Me Not walked into the yard, Kail looked up to see a hot air ballon flying overhead. And a gold pegasus who she recognized even at this distance. "They're here!" she said with a large grin and dropped the weeds in her hoof.
Jumping up, Kail opened her wings and beat them hard, coming up above the tops of the trees just in time to see the ballon land a few miles away. She could feel the blue stripe tugging at her, could feel Razzaroo's happiness at being there, and suddenly wanted to fly right away without a good bye. But, her mother called her back down.
"Rushing into things isn't going to help any," Bella grabbed her tail and pulled her back down, and that is when she noticed FMN. "Hello!" Turning back to her daughter she whispered, "go tell your father goodbye at least before you run off. And be safe." She gave Kail a hug and then pushed her towards the door of their house before turning back to FMN. "It's been an interesting morning, how are you today?"
(Kail exits to the Champions thread)
