Sunlight prattled cheerfully as she ushered the two unicorns into the kitchen.
"Here now, Friendly, you can wash the dishes and Skyflier, you can rinse them, and I'll dry them. That way it will be faster, and we will be done in no time. Now, do tell me, girls, how long have you lived in the valley? I'm afraid it's a long time since I was in contact with other ponies the last time, I'm afraid I've clean forgotten everyone who live here. Sad ins't it?" She gave a little laugh.

Friendly and Skyflier nodded, walking into the kitchen to clean the dishes.
"Um, well, we have lived here for our whole life, pretty much." Said Friendly. "See, our parents did live with us, but then we moved into our own cottage a few years ago. And we've been living together ever since."
Sky nodded. "Yup, that's pretty much the whole story." She said. "So, have you and Moonstone lived here all your lives?" She asked, a bit concerned to know more about Moonstone.

Sunlight smiled when they asked about Moonstone. She talked of nothing more gladly than about her son, after all.
"Oh, yes, Moonstone and I have been here all of our lives," she chatted cheerfully. "Well, I was born here, after all, and so was he, though I don't know if you can call him exactly an, uh, original Dream Valley pony. I mean, his father isn't from here." She looked at the two others as though in confidence. "Truth be told, I'm not exactly sure where his father was from. He didn't like talking about his origins. Sometimes I'm worried about how Moonstone copes here. He's very... different, somehow. Always gazing to the distance, always brooding thoughts. I am so happy he's beginning to make friends now, though. I can't tell you how worried I have been that he's been so seclusive."

The two unicorns listened to Sunlight talk. Skyflier nodded as to understand. "So, his father's not from here, then? Interesting. And, well, when I had first met him, which was not long ago, he did seem to gaze out into the sunset, when we were watching it together."
When Friendly heard this, she could just picture the two together, but she didn't say anything about it. She didn't want to be annoying when she was a guest at someone else's cottage.

Sunlight frowned slightly, a little concerned over what Skyflier said.
"Gaze out into the sunset?" she asked. "Why... why would he do that?" She gulped and struggled against the nagging sense of suspicion. Battering it with the hammer of hope and denial, she managed to force it down again, and a smile lighted her face as she looked more casual again. "Oh, well, that's my Moonstone, I suppose. You know, he has always been such a deep-thinking stallion. Sometimes I wonder if he ever notices anything around him, what with his head always in the clouds."

What Sunlight said had made Friendly think of Skyflier.. "Yea, Sky here always seems to have her head in the clouds, too!"
The red mare gave her sister a look. "Well....not all the time." She replied.
"Well, most of the time you do. You're always wondering what it would be like to fly." Friendly stated.
"This is true." Skyflier's #1 wish was to fly someday, she never really told anyone, though.

Sunlight looked at Skyflier with interest when she mentioned wanting to fly.
"Oh, to fly! Indeed, don't we all sometimes wish we could! The pegasus ponies don't quite realise what a special blessing they have. Although I suppose you unicorns have something almost to be compared... I mean, you can wink. Winking is such a wonderful ability is it not? My son, of course, takes it a little farther than your average unicorn."

Friendly nodded. "Yes, it is nice to wink. But I hear earth ponies seem better at running and jumping, I mean because, well, unicorns can just wink, pretty much. And pegasus ponies can fly, uh, am I making any sense?" She prattled.
The red unicorn nodded. "Yes, mostly, I am quite jealous of pegasus ponies, for flying, you know. But then, I'm sometimes happy to be myself. If only I could just grow a pair of wings..." She said, with some hope in her voice. She looked towards her back, where wings would be if she were a pegasus. She could imagine them there, but they were only in her mind....and Skyflier wished they could be something more, than just a wish......

[[awwwwwwwwwwww Skyflier!! *pets her*]] Sunlight's heart quite melted at how nearly heart-broken Skyflier seemed and sounded as she spoke of having wings. She sighed and reached out a gentle hoof to pat the unicorn on the shoulder. "Oh, dear," she said. "My dear, I do wish I had the power to grant wishes." This made her pause for just a briefest moment, as a memory, very faint one, coiled through into her mind. "Oh... I think... I think I once knew a pony who could... grant wishes, that is. That is, really, really intent wishes, one's heart's desire type of wishes, you understand, I don't think she could grant any small wishes just like that. But... perhaps it was just a legend I once heard. Oh, dear, this old head of mine."

The red unicorn smiled. "Hmm, a wish granter, you say? Well, it's ok, really. I mean, if you don't seem to remember who or where this.....wish granter lived, then don't worry about it. It'll be fine!" She said.
