Pippi watched as Bridie left. Pippi still wasn't sure if her and the white mare were really "friends", because friends don't laugh at friends. Pippi slowly shook her head. She knew Bridie was just pretending. Pippi wasn't that dumb. But Pippi didn't let it get to her. She knew she was better.
The purple mare turned to Quicksand. "Well, maybe I could give you a tour of the ship?" She suggested with a smile.

Bridie-Lee sat down on the other side of the ship. She eyed the new mare intently.
New meat.
The white mare smiled, but her eyes did not show any warmth at all. Quicksand seemed harmless, but Bridie could take no chances at all.
Bridie-Lee then turned her gaze to Pippi. She smiled at her, but she knew Pippi would see right through the fake smile...

Pippi noticed Bridie smiling at her. The purple mare sighed. She decided to ignore her, for now at least.
She turned to the unicorn, waiting for a response.

Tiger considered the conversation between the mares for a while, found it dull and walked across the deck over to Bridie, whisking his tail a bit in that strong masculine manner and throwing his head up, letting her see how his muscles worked under his gleaming coat. When he got to her he smiled in a sly manner.
"So how about that inn?" he asked her, his ears up and his neck arched in a suggestive manner.

((Sorry I'm late; Took me a while to find time to get on.))
Cutter's work was suddenly made easyer as a trio of claws, all riseing from the ocean's water, griped some of the load and hefted them with easy. The fluid apendages set them onboard, leaving it to Cutter to put them below deck. With the chimeing of many a bell, Gan Ning of the Bells swung down from the crow's nest onto one of the claws, before it set him on the deck and sank back into the element that birthed it. Grining ear to ear as the bells around his sholder and chest chimed, Gan Ning nodded to Tiger.
"Ah, going off for some fun, Cap? No worries, I got this covered." There was two things Gan Ning brought to the crew that made them feared; First was his skill with his sword. Once, he had sliped under an enemy's guard and sliced up his face and chest like a turkey. The other was his undieing devotion to the Rainbow of Water, something that granted him powers over the fluid element, giving him a deadly edge on the sea. He was also close friends with Sea Tiger and Cutter, the main reasons he ether helped them when he could or hanged around with them.
"You best take it easy on the Captain, Bridie! Can't run the ship without him!" Gan Ning had been a captain himself in his younger days; Sea combat came second nature to the stallion. While he got along with Bridie, he was perhaps the only man she never could seduce with her charm. It didn't stop Gany from playfuly teaseing her in a brother-sister manner, however. Waveing a hoof, another claw of water grabed a handful of the load on deck and set it in the hold, neatly arangeing all Cutter had put there too.
"Best not over work yer self, Cutter. Unless you'd like a salt water shower like last week's..." Gan's energy was another benefit to him. How else does one move quick as the wind to avoid skull klunks and tounge lashings? He eyed Pippi and the new member to the crew. Pippi long suffered his pranks, and he had a new target.

Tiger flashed a smile back to Gan Ning. He trusted him more than anyone else on the ship. Now that he was here, it was easier for him to leave everything for him to take care of. He could trust him to keep his mind in the business.

The purple mare watched the captain walk over to Bridie. She sighed. She noticed that the captain was ignoring her a bit.
Pippi then noticed Gan Ning walk onto the ship. The purple mare narrowed her eyes as she looked at him. There was something about that stallion that she didn't like.
She then looked at Cutter, and smiled. She wondered.........
She turned to Quicksand. "Um, can you wait here for a minute? There's something I have to do."
The purple mare smiled her prettiest smile as she trotted up to Cutter. "Hi, Cutter." She said in her sweetest voice. "How's it going?"

"Um, can you wait here for a minute? There's something I have to do."
"Sure - and then you can show me around the ship." Quicksand smiled at Pippi - being on a pirate ship was exciting enough, but having a friend on board was even better.
The unicorn had been watching Gan Ning with wide eyes since he came down from the crow's nest. Quicksand remembered that she was afraid of heights - come to think of it, she was afraid of a lot of things. Being kidnapped, heights, drowning... Basically the only thing she was halfway brave around was spiders, and that was just because she'd liked them since she was a filly.
But what the mare was interested in more than the height at which he had been standing was his powers. Pippi was already busy... So Quicksand decided to go over and talk to Gan Ning. She new it was probably stupid. She new she'd probably regret it later.
But the unicorn was just too caught up in the excitement of being in the company of real pirates to care. So she glanced over at Pippi, who had already walked away, spun around, and trotted towards Gan Ning.
Quicksand stuck out a forehoof instinctively(and was immediately mad at herself for being so formal again), and looked straight at him. "Hi. I'm Quicksand, and I saw you using your powers - they look really neat. I'm going to be sailing with you guys, and I'd like to get to know my new shipmates, so do you think you could tell me about the origin of your powers?"
That sounded a lot more pathetic than I wanted it to. Oh, well. It could have gone worse...somehow...

His first responce was to drench her with a piller of sea water. "Gan Ning of the Bells. That's my name AND title. As for my powers..." With another wave of his hoof, every last drop of water he had droped on her gathered in the air over her head in one giant water bubble, which he flung at Pippi, making sure the plank didn't get wet and make Cutter slip, or make his job harder. "I come from a port town on the edges of the Oriental Lands, near the places that the Solar Plains and Cresent Moon Falls used to be."
His grin faded as he remembed the endless slaughter that had wiped the entire contanet from the world. "My people have undieing faith in the Rainbow of Water. I carry that faith with me, and the Rainbow grants me such powers as you've seen. So what are you, blessed by the Earth Rainbow?" He grined ear to ear again. "Kinda impresive to make pits of dirt at will. Not often do I sail with mares with REAL talent!" He was picking fun at Bridie again, and he stuck his tounge out at the driping wet Pippi, every drop bounceing off the plank and into the sea.
"Best be watching for flash floods, Pinky!" He laughed as he resumed lifting and seting the cargo Cutter brought on into the hold to make his life easyer, but still managed to focus on her should she still want to talk.

Quicksand soon found herself completely drenched with seawater. Serves me right for going against my instincts. But when he had all the water form over her head, she was dry and aware that now she wasn't covered with sand - that was a plus. At first though, she thought, Oh great - want to soak me again?
The mare was first relieved to see the orb of water float away, but was upset again as it fell on her new friend. Oooh...poor Pippi...
But Gan Ning had begun to talk about the origins of his powers, so she turned her attention to him once more. She was less than pleased to hear her powers refered to as "making pits of dirt", but at least he was willing to talk to her at all.
"Um...Earth Rainbow? Sorry, but I'm having trouble following. I've never heard of any of that stuff. But I guess it would make sense..." At the risk of being soaked again, she asked another question. "So um...how does all this tie in with bells?"

"Your looking at a former captain that held an entire sea side city in fear of me. Hearing my bells was their only warning to start fighting over hidding spots or setting feasts for me and my men. If there was no feast, we'd pillage our own." He shook his head then. "Sorry, I didn't mean to offend your gift. I guess if you were blessed by the Rainbow of Earth, you'd be able to create more than just sink holes of sandy doom, such as rock towers or spears of crystal. Belive me, it's possable."
He frowned when she mentioned she had no idea of the Rainbows of Water or Earth. "Man, you guys lack faith! Okay, there are really NINE Rainbows. Light is just the ruler. The others are Fire, Air, Water, Earth, Wood, Metal, Sun and Moon. My powers come from faith, and my bells from my captaining days. Then Sea Tiger beat me in a sea battle. Heh, I respect strong men, and have been fighting for him since. So what about your powers? Where do they come from?"

"Best not over work yer self, Cutter. Unless you'd like a salt water shower like last week's..."
"Ha!" A joyful but nonetheless somewhat evil grin crossed the stallion's features as he paused to glance up at Gan Ning. "Ye be lucky none o' the crew be drownin' on board because of ye, Gan'ing!" He laughed again, thankful for the help in loading the cargo. The overhead sun was beginning to take a toll on even the strong stallion's energy. "Be sure to express me gratitude to yer watery octopus," He said with a nod, in his low voice, adding a wink before turning to walk on board to finish stowing the crates below deck. Cutter was always able to appreciate those gifted with powers, and even more so when it made HIS work easier.
At the top of the ramp, he leapt down to the deck with a THUD as his heavy frame landed. He paused to wipe sweat from his brow with a feathered foreleg, then tossed his mane over to the other side of his thick neck as he raised his head. It was then that he noticed Pippi had approached him.
"Hi, Cutter." She said in her sweetest voice. "How's it going?"
"Aye, mornin' Miss," He said with a nod, before turning to look at the stacked cargo boxes, courtesy of Gan Ning. "Show off, he is.." He muttered under his breath with a grin. He turned his distracted attention calmly back to Pippi. "Same as any other day, I reckon," He responded, seemingly polite for a pirate. "If ye'll excuse me," the crimson stallion gave the mare a nod and with a swish of his tail, turned toward the stacked boxes.

Quicksand was almost sorry she'd asked about the bells. "Okay, there are really NINE Rainbows. Light is just the ruler. The others are Fire, Air, Water, Earth, Wood, Metal, Sun and Moon.""...And Darkness, right? Or is that similar to moon. Anyway, I don't really know where my powers are from. I guess I just always assumed all powers were from...well...magic in general." This was quite a lot to take in - eight rainbows she'd never heard of? And they were probably all nearly as powerful as the Rainbow of Light. But then she realized that pirates' stories might not always be truthful - if not outright lies, then perhaps stories told to pass the time until they were actually believed. "But I am part sea pony - that might have something to do with it. Not the quicksand part of course but...it makes some difference because I love being near the ocean." ((Heh - did you just make that nine rainbows thing up? I'll bet Nova Luna gets her powers from the Moon one. ))

Gan Ning's expresion turned from cheery to grim and furious. "Don't EVER mention that foul thing in my presence. I lost my family to that dam* thing and it's demon hoards!" He shook his head as the darkness lifted from his face. "I'm sorry... The Dark Rainbow is not of the Nine Rainbows of Creation. And don't be doubting me; I know a Ninja and a Samurai from my land that obay the teachings of the Moon and Sun Rainbows. If there is anything I have that I refuse to be insulted or otherwise, it's my faith. It's what keeps me going."
He shook his head. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gotten on your case like that, you didn't know. Cutter and Tiger are the only others I've told, and that was during when I first came aboard after pledgeing my loyalty to the new Captain. Well, Me and Cutter, I should say. We used to cause all kinds of mayhem. Ah well." He changed to topic to something of lighter note. "Yes, Magic does exist in the world. But it too is born of those Nine Rainbows. Heck, just cause mine comes from faith doesn't mean I didn't have to fine tune control of it!"
He pat her on the back as he grined. "I'm sure the more you use and pratice your powers, the better you can do with them other than the quicksand bogs ya make. I'm sorry if I don't come across as polite as a man should, but then again, hanging with Pippi and Bridie certainly doesn't made good practice!"
((Yes, the other eight Rainbows are of my making. Begain with Dark's Moon, then Kenshin's Sun, and then the other six followed.))

((Cool! )) Quicksand was very taken aback by Gan Ning's reaction, but at least he had the decency to apologise. "Oh, you come across plenty polite." The mare smiled at him. At least, you're a lot nicer than I'd expect a pirate to be. But if I told you that you'd know this is my first time sailing with pirates...not that I haven't probably given that away on several occasions now."So, uh...water powers seem pretty broad. Does that mean you can do...anything?"
