[[cont. from C03]]
The balloon ride cut down the distance remarkably. Hollow was actually a little surprised at how fast they got to Dream Valley. He had never flown before, and the whole experience was new to him. He forgot himself looking out of the basket, at the sceneries, and his usual serious self was slightly lightened at the sight of the rolling hills and patches of farmland and forest below as they soared through the air. By the time the Champion Balloon arrived to Dream Valley, he was so exhilarated that when he spotted the Dream Castle in the distance, he looked at the others and shouted: "We're there! We're there!" which was completely uncharacteristic of him.
The balloon continued to make its steady way towards the Dream Castle.

As the distance between Ponyville and Dream Valley shortened, Coon's flirty and casual behavior began to dwindle in a form of tense silence.
It hadn't occurred to her that, despite briefly hearing she would be needed for the Rainbow of Light, she would have to go to Dream Valley.
Her golden eyes wavered a moment at the up coming icon for all of Pony Land, but Coon quickly closed her eyes to avoid the sights. She didn't want to see that house, Fox Trot's house, her once beloved Foxy. It had been years...years since the unfortunate mishap where she'd been foolish enough to let love and stealing mix with each other.
Sure, Coon should have been over this, there was Stokely, her sweet Candy. But...I haven't seen Stokely in a year either, and after that Twinkle Eye's trick last battle...
Coon sighed. Suddenly the fact she was surrounded by lovely ladies didn't help her mood.

Roux had been silent the entire trip. Flying wasn't something he cared much for. Give him a boat and the open water and he was fine. But a basket in the air? What fool thought this was a good idea anyway?
His jaw clenched, not that he had noticed it. Slowly he swallowed, telling himself over and over 'it would all be fine'. How he wished he was on the deck of a boat right than with the water gently caressing, rocking it slowly back and forth.

The golden pegasus soared ahead of the balloon, rolled to her right and dove toward the ground. She pulled up shortly before landing, touching her hooves delicately to the ground. Jewel had landed near an open, even patch of land, perfect for landing the balloon.
The pegasus squinted as she looked up at the rainbow balloon. She opened her wings, folded them again, and pranced slightly, signaling that she had found a good place to touch down.

Roux's brown eyes had followed Jewel as the pegasus quickly approached the ground. He wanted to say something, to tell her to be careful ... but what right did he have now? He'd left her. And granted he hadn't taken the little hints from Peri that Jewel was now taken. Something though made him stop. Made him think. Perhaps the pegasus he had fallen in love with and the one that was here today were not the same. So much had happened during that time. How could he expect her to be the same through it all? Perhaps the time had come for him to let go.

Coon took notice of Jewel's guiding hoof. Having found herself "on the run" quite frequently, so to speak, Coon had learned a thing or two about driving one of these things. Without word, she almost obediently took control of the gas and began to lower its intake, allowing the balloon to effectively coast down into the patch Jewel had marked.
The thief took one look again to the golden peg. Suddenly she realized how Jewel had felt, separating from her Peri. Her she was, having been separated from Fox Trot so long and having her within ample reach...it was salt to a wound that still hadn't closed.
Coon silently began to count off. "Aren't there supposed to be seven of you?"
Then, the masculine mare recalled the words of Razz, calling out to Kail. Coon's face couldn't have turned any paler that moment.
"Never mind...," she stated with a sour face. Well, this was going to be a rather interesting time.

As the balloon landed, Razz climbed out pretty much the same way he'd gotten in, because he was just so excited to be in Dream Valley he'd forgotten about the door.
"Kail! Kail! We're here!" He looked around, expecting her to be waiting there.

Roxanne rolled her eyes and took a deep breath at the tension that surfaced in the balloon as it soared over Dream Valley.
Her forelock fell into her eyes as they landed with a soft bump, and she squinted and tripped on her way out.
As she fell onto her back in the grass with all four hooves in the air, she let out a cackle and relaxed her guard against the blue stripe in her mind, letting it trickle out. Time to nip the unrest in the bud, she felt.
"Come on chaps. I can just FEEL how you don't like being here - well, most of you - " and from her spot on the ground, she winked at Razzaroo - "but here we are, and we're not here to mope. We're on a mission, doncha forget it, and we've got to save our darlin' Rainbow from the clutches of the opposition, whether we like it or not. And I think we do, in the end.
"Yes," she said, getting to her feet and looking them each shrewdly with her blue-swirled eyes, "I think we do.
"So chins up, wot wot? This could be a blast if we let it. I mean, a real adventure, eh? Go get 'em!"
[[Oh, by the way, LNS - Orivy could use some doctoring, she's got a thread going for her injury on this board that Cutlass should maybe visit. ; )]]

Hollow waited, dignified, as the balloon touched down and then stepped out the door, smiling just a little at Razz's eager stumbling out. At once his face turned less amused, however, as his heart reminded him that he would never again feel such want of the company of another pony. He shook his mane and stretched his muscles once he got onto the grass.
Roxanne's little speech made him turn an ear toward her, but hardly much more. He couldn't help but be slightly affected by the Blue Stripe, but as he had fairly little actual dedication to the Rainbow of Light - aside from what the Yellow Stripe was instilling in him - he shrugged most of it off. Yes, they were there on a mission, and he knew his duties well, and was just as eager to remind everyone else of it, but he did not share her enthusiasm about the whole thing being fun. He gave her a look, but chose not to say anything. Perhaps what she said was helping the others. He didn't want to ruin it for them.
He shook his mane again and looked about, squinting over towards where he still saw the castle.

Roxanne caught Hollow's look out of the corner of her eye and decided not to ignore it.
She pranced over, pressed her muzzle to his in a weirdly affectionate challenge, and squinted.
"Someday I'm gonna make you grin, buster."

Kail had been weeding her frustrations away when she saw the ballon flying overhead. She had made to fly to them right away, but her mother kept her back for just a short time longer. After saying goodbye to both her mother and her father, Kail immediately took to air.
"Razzaroo!" she yelled happily as she made an arc over the trees and started down straight towards him. Pulling back just enough that she wouldn't do much damage when she hit him, Kail wrapped him in a large hug-landing that toppled them both over with the force of it. She kissed him quickly and smiled, "hi."

Razz heard his name and looked around. He should have been looking in the sky. When Kail knocked him over, Razz just laughed and laughed. When she kissed him, he kissed her back. Then he gave her another kiss and another for good measure. "Oh, rainbows," he said and gave her two more. It seemed as if he wasn't going to stop, but a snap of violet in the back of his mind quickly settled him.
"Ahem," he said. "Hello, Kail. It's very good to see you."

Hollow stepped back instinctively, but her expression and her words lured out a brief smile. Rainbow help him, he liked this mare. He fought the initial smile back quickly, then couldn't help himself and smiled more openly, even giving a short laugh. He nudged her on the muzzle a bit with his.
"You're really something," he said with a chuckle. He might have said more, but Kail's sudden appearance startled him into attention. It took him a moment to realise it was the Green Stripe and not an attack. He licked his lips a bit and shook his mane and then looked at the reunion with a tilted head. It was sort of cute, but his main attention was on Kail. He had already evaluated the rest of his new companions, now was Kail's turn. He did keep one ear turned towards Roxanne, however. He felt himself slightly under a female attack. It was far too long since he had been in the company of so many mares. He didn't quite know how to carry himself.

Roxanne threw her head back and laughed triumphantly at Hollow's response. Her laughter mingled with Razzaroo's. There was a streak of cheer in the champions, if only for a minute.
But Roxy casually stepped back and turned to the rest of the group as she laughed. You don't know this stallion, she cautioned herself. Don't let yourself or anyone get any ideas.
She had not missed the presence of Roux as the stripes traveled. It had been a long time since she had seen him, since just after he first came to town. And she had begun to like him then. It twinged a little to see him all of a sudden.

The golden pegasus stood at the outside of the group, but watched with interest and an alert expression. She felt better observing those she'd be with for Rainbow knows how long before leaping into the group. Part of her felt slightly anti-social, after her parting with those she knew in Ponyville. Something in her heart failed to rest, like something she had left behind simply wasn't right. All in all, it left her with worry churning inside.
Much as she put up a wall against Coon, and reluctant as her heart was to be there at all, something about Kail and Razz's display brough a smile to her lips and a soft blush to her cheeks. It made her happy just to see the pair together, despite her longing for Peri Winkle. Jewel predicted at that moment that in her temporary non-existent love life to come, she would more than likely live vicariously through those two.
As she smiled and even laughed softly a few brief times, the pegasus's gaze drifted to the brown stallion from her past. A lone butterfly fluttered in her stomach, much as she tried to push it away. She didn't want to feel anything of the sort, and noticibly looked away from him, focusing somewhere in the distance.
((Thinking way ahead here.. are you guys up for any sort of storm at sea, natural disaster, what have you? With the future-vision and whatnot, I at least want to point Jewel in some direction. Just wondering!))
