A sudden puff of black smoke and Kail was standing with Dark in her living room. She blinked, and was getting ready to yell at Dark, when another puff of smoke signaled his retreat. Jaw slack, her lavendar eyes swept the room and realized that not only had she not been given the chance to say goodbye to her boyfriend or kids, but Dark hadn't bothered to grab her bag either. Boys.
"Mom? Dad?" Kail peeked into the kitchen and then out the window, wondering where the two ponies were at. And then she heard the pounding of hoofs and her name much like one of the kids would have said it.
"KAAAAAIIIIIIL!" Comet bounded into the room, knocking over a bookcase with his wings that were outstreached for a hug. He winced, but wrapped the much smaller pony in a giant hug, picking her up and nuzzling her forehead hard.
"Ah... Comet... off!" She managed to wiggled free and fell the two feet to the ground, tripping over a book and landing hard on her side.
"Sorry," he blushed, "but I haven't seen you in forever! Its been over a year! And we missed your birthday, and they said you have a boyfriend, and Karma's actually been happy lately which makes me happy and, and, and..." He stopped for a moment and blinked, "you still look so young."
Kail rolled her lavendar eyes, "yeah, I know." She laughed softly, "where are my parents? I thought they were going to be here?"
"Oh, they went to get groceries. We thought you weren't coming til later tonight."
"Me too," Kail shook her head at the now far away Dark. "So, how have you been?"
"I've been good. I'm getting so much better at flying. Not as good as you of course, but I can do flips without throwing up now. Hey! We should have hot chocolate."
Kail laughed again, "sounds good. We will make some hot chocolate while you tell me more about your flying."
It was no wonder Kail was so good with children - she had been taking care of her much older brother since she was a child herself.
