Sugarberry smiled as the gently sprin breeze tugged playfully at her greying hair. Like an affectionate kitten, it tickled and rubbed, twarting any means the aged mare had to keeping it from being tangled and knotted. Not that it mattered to the retired chef. If the wind wanted her to look like she had been sweapt up in a huricane, then by no means was Sugarberry going to fight it.
Besides, hadn't this gently, playfull spring whether what this picnic was to celebrate?
A huffing, puffing, and rather pooped out Munchy stopped in a gasping, sputtering mess behind her, a cooler in one hand, blanket in the other. "I suppose after that work out I'll be gaining it all back with your mastery meal today, Sugar?"
The white mare smiled smugly. "You know I've been working diligintly on a low cal, low cholesteral diet for you."
"Half the cals, double the taste I hope?," Munchy weezed. Her double neck shook and her pudgy cheeks bulged up in wrinkles.
"Over course.," Sugarberry replied, taking the blanket and laying it down over the grassy area. In time Firefly would be joining them.

"Whoo-hoo!" A cheerful, middle-aged voiced called from the sky as a pink pegasus soared past the group at break-neck speed. Firefly then flew upward, circling a short distance above Munchy and Sugarberry.
"I do say," She called in an mockingly elegant and hooting voice, "If it isn't the most BEuuuuuuutiful day!"
With that, she laughed, then climbed up above the clouds. At the peak of her upward ascent, time and space seemed to freeze around her as she began to free-fall.
Balanced on a tree branch next to the walking ponies, a green stallion paused in his study of a bird that was living in a hole in the tree. Lavendar eyes found the falling pink figure, and Leaper was able to identify the mare as Firefly, a friend of his parents.
Numbers and physics flew through his head as the yellow-haired pony leaned further out of the tree, as if he'd get a better look. His worried voice went toward Sugar and Munchy below, "She.. she's falling too fast.." He began rambling, "The pull of gravity and the sir resistance of the area of her wingspan is--ohh--AHH!"
With this, Leaper tumbled from the tree, landing uncerimoniously on his frog-symboled rear. He was able to look up in time to see the pegasus avoid certain death, and not for the first time, by pulling up just in the nick of time. The mare glided over to the group, and smirked at Leaper's stunned expression, as well as his disheveld appearance.
"Better hit those books a little harder, kid," She said with a wink, tapping his shoulder with a pink hoof.

Munchy more or less offered Leaper an initial scowl to his rambling worry of Firefly's skill. The yellow, horizontally challenged mare knew Firefly was a master of her art, and just as well knowledged about her fitness workouts. She had a lot of faith in that mauve peg, and not much could shatter that. If there was a way for Firefly to get out of any danger, even if the probability was one in a million, no doubt she would do it.
Besides, clearly anyone could see that the peg was showing off. It was in her nature.
Sugarberry glanced over to the falling froggie figure of Leaper and managed a syllable of warning before he did make the leap to the ground. She offered him an apologetic, almost absent minded care free look, before greeting Firefly with a bright smile. "Taking advantage of these excellent thermals, are we?"
Munchy chuckled at that. She waddled over towards the fallen stallion, her body jiggling merrily in a way that could be compared to the jolly rolls of St Merry Treats. With what appeared a sturdy, confident hoof, Munchy hoisted the stallion to his hooves with a huff. Her cheeks bulging and grinning widely, "Look what I caught me? A handsome young hunk of a stallion."
With that she laughed teasingly, knowing all to well that he was much too young for her to be comfortable with. Perhaps, that was why she so freely and easily flirted calmly with him. There was no fear in rejection if a chance wasn’t possible.

(cont. from other thread) The reddish-pink mare slowly trotted through the paths, bored. She sighed with nothing to do, and no where to go. She was never bored like this before! "Oh how come I can't think of anything to do?" She said softly to herself. She looked down at the ground with another long sigh.
She then noticed a small group of ponies having a picnic. She wondered if it'd be alright if she joined them. "No, I'd just get in the way." She said softly to herself. She sighed again and sat behind a tree. "Oh, what am I going to do?" She looked up at the leaves in the tree.

The reddish-pink mare got up, and continued on.
She then spotted a small forest ahead of her. She blinked a few times. "Hmm, I wonder what could be in there." She said to herself. She trotted into the forest, brave as ever. (cont. in another thread)

"Taking advantage of these excellent thermals, are we?"
"What else would I be doing 500 feet in the air, having a tea party?" The pegasus chuckled with a wink, tossing her navy mane into place. True, she didn't always make sense, but Firefly's humor was too good-hearted for many to mind.
"Look what I caught me? A handsome young hunk of a stallion."
Leaper swallowed and smiled a bit uneasily, taking the mare's hoof and uprighting himself. After taking a few seconds to dust off his green coat and readjust his glasses (did I mention he had glasses? Well, he does now), he said to Munchy, "Thank you, ma'am."
"Man!" Firefly half-reared, soon touching the ground again, "I'm hungry enough to eat a horde of bushwoolies! What's for lunch, Sugar?"

Sugarberry smiled innocently. "I would expect that tea would get cold to fast to have much of a successful party." It was said in such away that one couldn't quite be sure of Sugarberry had taken Firefly's statement literally. Though, considering how laid back Sugarberry was, who would no expect her to think tea parties could be held up at 500 feet?
"I'm hungry enough to eat a horde of bushwoolies! What's for lunch, Sugar?"
The aging mare smiled gently and nodded her head in direction of the cooler. "To compliment Munchy's diet, I've prepared the nutritious menu of a low cal spinage salad with an orange vinaigrette, toasted baguette with a garlic flavored butter, a nice raspberry blueberry daiquiri for our drinks, and a fat free angel food cake, with none other than strawberries for a topping."
She turned her head towards Leaper, not aware really of his age, but not particularly upset about it either. "I'm sure our dear friend will drink leisurely and responsibly?"
Munchy chuckled, elbowing Leaper as Sugarberry spoke. "Oh, he'll drink responsibly all right." There was a glint of obvious mischief in her green eyes. Though, truly she was thrilled at the delightfully tasty menu. Surely Munchy thought that the amount that was brought wasn't clearly enough...Leaper was a growing boy, she quickly reasoned her thinking on something not focused upon her appetite.
Oh well, she had quite a bit of leftovers she could feast on for dinner, a light lunch will make room for all of it tonight.
"I suppose we can't eat dessert first, can we?"
"I don't see why not," the older taf replied. Perhaps, a laid back, free willed chef wasn't the most ideal dietitians for the hefty mare

Firefly looked back at Sugarberry with almost a forced smile. In all honesty, she had hoped for something fried and with.. with cheese. Yes, something cheesy would be great.
However, she also understood the nutritional needs of her friend. Firefly was more than happy to accomodate Munchy's needs, and usually did all she could to support the overweight mare. Personally, Firefly thought that the girth added to the yellow mare's personality, but mostly just wanted Munchy to be happy.
"I'm sure our dear friend will drink leisurely and responsibly?"
"Oh," Leaper said, glasses tilting, "I--I don't drink," He smiled crookedly, readjusting his glasses. "But I'd be happy to join you."
"I suppose we can't eat dessert first, can we?"
"Munchy, dear," Firefly said, acting wise for a moment, "Sugar's angel food cake is quite possibly the most delicious thing ever," She said with a smile, "Why don't we eat the meal first, and save the best for last?" Also, that would give Munchy a chance to fill up on the more healthy foods first.

Munchy gave Firefly a look of thought, before a grin matching her gurth pulled on her face. "Heh, you're right. Besides, unless Sugarberry's started to make her desserts with legs, I don't think it'll go anywhere."
"Really? Perhaps I should try to make them like that from now on. You'd have to chase and work for your desserts then.," she chuckled to herself.
The white mare turned open the cooler and removed the plastic wrap from the salad, and set the serving utensils in an appropriate spot. After removing the plats and eating utensils for her fellow picnickers, Sugarberry moved aside and allowed them first dibs. It was nice to see and hear the reactions of others before eating herself.
While waiting, she began to pour the daiquiris for the three of them, while scooping ice up in a second cup for Leaper. She handed him the designated cup with a smile. "I'm sure if you give it a minute you'll have a glass of water to drink."
As that progressed, Munchy displayed her obvious joy of the current meal she was getting with song. "Gonna fill up my belly with some of Sugar's tummy yummies, and she ain't no Booger 'cause she's sweet like sugar 'cause she makes my feel chummy~Take it Firefly!"

"And if you eat it too fast, it'll give you lots of gas, and you won't be first in line, much as you whine, not to condescend, but no one will want to be stuck downwiiind!" Firefly ended with a laugh, raising her daquiri to the others before taking a sip of it.
"I'm sure if you give it a minute you'll have a glass of water to drink."
"Thanks," Leaper said politely with a nod. He bit his tongue on the issue of dessert, since angel food cake had nearly no fat in it, and was indeed one of the healthiest desserts one could make. Either way, regardless, he was quite happy to be invited to something so pleasantly social. Leaper didn't have many friends, since most tired of his scientific, logical approach to oh, well, everything.
"This is -delicious- Sugar!" Firefly said, for once chewing before speaking. She didn't want to overwhelm Leaper with her personality more than necessary, at least today.

Munchy roared with laughter to Firefly's creative verse. She too, tipped her glass up in tune, and was merely enraptured that day within the company of good friends, with good spirits, and good food.
It was then, the larger mare plopped herself down on the blanket with her plate, and began to dig in herself. She'd been fairly conscious about her portions, and although they seemed large, they were rather small for Munchy. It only seemed to add to the pride, and happy air about her currently.
Sugarberry smiled in response to Firefly. That was always the cue she liked to here when dishing her own up. Sitting down with her own plate, she announced towards the three "Feel free to eat as much as you want. I made plenty, and it will mean the less to carry home later."
With that, she took a bite of her salad and thoughtfully chewed it, almost scrutinizing. Murmuring sidedly to herself, "Orange zest..."
Her head turned and she faced the ground for a moment, abandoning her utensils. Seeing a break in the grass, the aged chef reached a hoof out and retrieved a tiny portion of dirt. With no hesitation what so ever, she sprinkled it into her salad. A second look would reveal the dirt's sudden transformation to a familiar orange, pulpy substance.
Again, taking another bite, Sugarberry was satisfied.

As Sugarberry performed her magic on the hooffull of dust, Leaper tilted his head slightly, quietly murmuring to himself, "Fascinating.." The stallion caught Sugarberry's glance, and cleared his throat before saying, "Your talent for cuisine is quite evident.. this -is- delicious," He smiled in his nerdy way. His thoughts then returned to the idea of matter spontaneously changing elements with just the magic touch of a hoof...
Firefly took a long swig of her daquiri, which left a purplish-blue moustache. Not wanting to miss a drop, she licked her upper lip from one side to the other, in a big sweeping motion. "You have a truly magic touch with blueberries," Firefly grinned, blueberries being her favorite fruit. If Sugarberry had brought loose blueberries, Firefly would probably be competing with Munchy as to who could catch more of them.

Sugarberry's smile broadened, and it was quite easy to see the white mare had caught onto Firefly's line of thought.
"I've got quite a bit of blueberries in stock, actually. I had a surplus last season so I've quite a bit of baskets frozen, and a few jars of jam too. Feel free to stop by and I'll be happy to give you a heap." Then she smiled in return to Leaper, before continueing on her own dish.
The chef particularly, and obviously, was very fond of strawberries. She'd like to think her specialty was with them, but everyone had their own unique tastes. It was still always a good complement out of anyone about anything she'd done.
Munchy nudged Leaper. "I think what you said was an understatement, lad.," she said in a largly comfortable voice, "Don't hold back on you're portions either. There's plenty, and second helpings are the best complement I think anyone could give a chef."

(cont. from other thread) A pinkish mare skated on down. She then stopped when she noticed that a few ponies were having a picnic. She blinked when she noticed 2 of them: Firefly and Munchy. Scooter Sprite had met them before. But the other two just didn't ring any bell. Scooter sighed as she took of her skates. "I think I shall be done skating for today." She said to herself. "Perhaps I shall join them, unless they don't want me intruding." She decided to head home and put away her skates first. (cont. at her cottage)

(cont. from her cottage) The pinkish mare then trotted back to the picnic spot. She trotted onto the beautiful green grass and approached the group.
"Hello!" Said a cheerful voice as she approached them. "Mind if I join in? Or unless I am intruding." She said, her cheeks turning a bit red at the thought. She didn't want to be chased away, so she wasn't sure if saying hi was a very good idea. Scooter Sprite just let it pass and she smiled.
