(jumping forward a bit, for everyone's sake)
The mauve pegasus sighed with contentment as she lay stretched on her back in the soft grass, rubbing her pleasantly full stomach. She gave up wondering why she had managed to stay in such shape for her age, while having Sugarberry for a friend. Ah, but life without her food was.. was.. unfathomable!
A michevious glint sparked in the pegasus's eye as she raised her eyebrows and glanced side to side, before letting loose an explosive (and rather impressive) belch.
"My compliments to the chef!" She said, rolling onto her side and raising her head to look at the others.
Leaper sat nearby, gradually more comfortable with the situation than he had been previously. Adjusting his thin-rimmed glasses, the scientist pony thought with amusement of how Firefly reminded him of some of the fillies in what could be considered pony college..
..and how he stayed well away from them.

[[cont. from spring cleaning thread]]
Cascade took Dancer walking along a meadow near a little hill. She had been planning on taking the older mare there, maybe even to get her climb a tree with her - Cascade loved trees almost as much as she loved the waterfall. When she noticed the little group there, just under the trees, having a picnic, she smiled, satisfied. That was good. Dancer needed some exposure to other ponies. So, when Dancer was going to walk past, her expression absent-minded, she nudged her towards the hill. She had noticed Firefly there, so she had even the perfect excuse to go up to them.
"Come on," she said. "I wanna say hi to Firefly there."
Dancer was nudged from her thoughts. She blinked and looked up towards the hill, a little alarmed at the thought of meeting other ponies. She hadn't really spoken much with others for quite some time now. But she had always been somewhat of a sociable pony, so she nodded quietly and followed Cascade. She recalled Firefly vaguely. They had never really been exactly friends, but she recalled being in contact with her before.
Cascade trotted to the picnic company with a happy smile.
"Firefly!" she shouted from further away and stopped for a second to wave a hoof. Then she kept galloping until she reached them. "It's so nice to see you again! I've been thinking you were dead or something, I haven't seen you at the hospital being stitched up for such a long time!"
Dancer, moving carefully, followed a little more slowly from behind. She felt shy.

Sugarberry chuckled softly at Firefly's unique form of "complement." Her slightly aged face crinkled up in a smile as she spoke her thanks to the peg.
Then, turning to Leaper, she questioned, "And how is your stomach faring?"
Munchy looked up, much from a position mimicking Firefly's. "Yeah, green beans? How was your run in with the ambrosia Firefly and I like to call 'Sugarberry's cookin'?"
"Munchy, you jest.," Sugarberry teased, smiling with good naturedly intent. Looking up, she noticed the approaching duo. "Lovely, we can dish up the remains! Good afternoon!" She waved a white hoof, almost gesturing them to come closer.
The yellow, over weight mare tilted her head up rather surprised to see other company. Moondancer was just someone everyone knew, although Munchy couldn't place the name of her companion. That only left the mare slightly nervous of their opinion. She swallowed it the best she could while managing to sit up for their arrival.

Scooter Sprite realized that they didn't hear her. So she ran off and left them.
((cont. elsewhere. Actually, I was thinking of retiring her, since, well, I don't have much for Scooter Sprite to do, actually. -_-))

"It's so nice to see you again! I've been thinking you were dead or something, I haven't seen you at the hospital being stitched up for such a long time!"
Firefly turned her elegant head toward the approaching yellow mare, "Cascade! How ya doin?" She laughed heartily, too relaxed to rise from where she rested on the ground. "Dearest, I don't have to tell YOU that danger is my life!" She chuckled. "Don't remind me of how lucky I've been recently, I might just be due for a visit!" The pegasus winked, not being one who often made many mistakes in the air.
"And how is your stomach faring?"
Leaper's ears perked up at being spoken to, and through his soft smile, stuttered slightly, "Oh, very well, thank you. I don't think my stomach has felt this nice since before I left for school," He chuckled softly.
Firefly added to Sugar's warm greeting with her own, "Come on, sit down, have some leftovers!" She added in a slightly dramatic, hearty voice, "Tell us of your travels!"

Cascade nodded her head to Sugarberry and smiled to Munchy and Leaper, and was all friendliness.
"I'm sure we'd love to," she said and sat down near them all. She didn't know their names, of course, but she was always happy to meet new ponies. Also, she was quite delighted to meet Firefly sometimes outside the healing house. She smiled a winning smile to them all. "I am Cascade," she said, and nodded her head towards Dancer, who was a little shyly now stepping closer to them. "And this is Moondancer."
Dancer smiled to the others, just a little, as she lay down, a bit uncertainly. She didn't want to intrude, and even if their welcome was warm, she was still worried they might have interrupted something.
"Nice to meet you all," she said softly.
Cascade smiled and scanned the remains of food scattered around. She wouldn't have minded a little tidbit. While she did so, she answered Firefly: "Well, if you mean the travel around the meadows, I can tell you there were a few birds flying by and I think I saw a beetle. Aside from that, nothing interesting." She smirked up to her. "How about you? Rescued any ponies lately?" She winked.

Heart Throb was flying swiftly in the sky. She looked down and noticed a group of ponies having a picnic. "Ooo, a picnic. How lovely!" She said in her cheerful, usually accented voice. The young pony landed, but not in such a graceful way, In fact, she almost crashed into a tree, but saved herself and landed near it.
She blinked as she was glad she didn't hit the tree. She was near where the group of ponies were at. She wondered if they'd let her join in. She walked over to them.
"Hello, darlings!" Said Heart Throb. "How is everyone doing on such a lovely day?"

"Hi there, Dancer," Firefly greeted with a smile, careful not to overwhelm the shy mare with her boldness. "This is my buddy, Muchy," She introduced, motioning to the yellow mare next to her, "That's Sugarberry, the best chef in all of Ponyland," The peg winked, "And that little green bookworm over there is Leaper."
Leaper, upon hearing his name, smiled shyly to the new mares, fidgeting with his glasses. It's turned into quite a party here, the young green stallion thought to himself with a smile. It was nice to be in such pleasant company.. Leaper didn't exactly have many friends.
"Well, if you mean the travel around the meadows, I can tell you there were a few birds flying by and I think I saw a beetle. Aside from that, nothing interesting."
"A beetle!? Didja really?" Firefly said as she rolled onto her stomach and stamped a hoof, "Well I'll be darned!" Her friendly joking was followed by a warm smile and a soft laugh, proof that Firefly's nature wasn't all that of bold remarks and jesting--her friends were the ones she reserved such joking for, after all.
"How about you? Rescued any ponies lately?"
"Not a one!" The peg said, rolling casually back onto her side, "I'm tellin ya, it's been quiet as a mute bushwoolie around here lately.."

Heart Throb blinked. Had they not heard her? Could they not see her? The pink pegasus wondered. She sighed.

Cascade and Dancer both nodded to each pony Firefly introduced to them. Cascade thought Leaper especially adorable, so she smiled to him in an especially charming way. She chuckled to Firefly's joke, and grabbed a cookie from one of the plates.
Dancer, for her part, was still feeling a little awkward and shy, not having had much contact with other ponies for such a long time. She settled herself into a small ball close to Cascade, and tried to smile.
"Well, it's been rather quiet at the Healing House as well," Cascade said, then gave a laugh. "Not that I'm complaining. Less clients mean more healthy ponies."

Heart Throb sighed again. It seemed no one paid any attention to her these days. She stepped in a little closer, hoping someone would see her. She then spotted Leaper. Heart Throb smiled sweetly at him. She thought he looked quite handsome. "Hello." Said Heart Throb to Leaper.

[[cont. from the castle]]
Skydancer had been flying long and hard. He had visited the old cottage of his parents. It was in shambles, but as he had looked about, he had decided that it could still be worked out into a home. He hadn't spent long there, as he had the feeling he wouldn't be able to stand the emotions at that moment. So he had continued flying, and was now determined to find some way to distract himself. He needed to be cheerful, himself, for a while now. He could think about bad things later.
When he spotted the picnic crew down on the little hill, he decided that they would do. Besides, he could see a familiar pink figure. He had heard of Firefly, of course - who wouldn't have? - and by the things he had heard of her, he was anxious to meet her in person. After all, they had many things in common, by what he had heard.
He circled once far around the other ponies, checking out who were there. He didn't recognise half of them, of course, but he didn't let that bother him. This was as good a time as any to make new friends. As he saw Heart Throb, a mischievous grin spread on his face. The filly was rather cute, and seemed to be interested in the green stallion. As the eternal prankster, Skydancer couldn't resist the temptation.
He swooped down like a yellow flash of lightning, and landed in the middle of the party, hitting his hooves squarely on a bowl of sticky marshmellows in chocolate sauce, which had only been eaten halfway. The bowl flipped up and flew through the air, landing squarely - and just like Skydancer had planned it - on Heart Throb's face, smudging her all over into marshmellows and chocolate sauce.
"Oops," he said very unconvincingly, as he was grinning.

Cascade thought Leaper especially adorable, so she smiled to him in an especially charming way.
The stallion's face turned an awkward mixture of chartruese and crimson as he blushed under Cascade's, in Leaper's opinion, beautiful smile. He immediately fell under the impression that she was indeed a kind, pleasant mare, and smiled back at her shyly.
"Not that I'm complaining. Less clients mean more healthy ponies."
Firefly smiled in her charismatic way to the yellow mare, "Either that, or they just have a bad sense of direction," The pegasus chuckled, inwardly pleased by the apparent number of healthy ponies.. Dream Valley was in no need of hard times now, and the more alive and thriving the land was, the more alive Firefly felt inside.
The pegasus had caught Skydancer's approach and circling from the corner of her trained eye, but said nothing to alert the others to his presence. If he was going to join them, he would.
She nearly thought too soon as the airborne figure swooped down almost in a manner Firefly herself would have. She was a fan of big entrances, after all.
Before Leaper could respond to Heart Throb, Skydancer was practically upon them. The smaller stallion inched away from the group as Skydancer made his landing, complete with projectile food.
"Whoa, ponyfeathers!" Firefly exclaimed, not having been one to move from or even really flinch for that matter. Her exclamation was open-ended, however, as she couldn't decide whether she was put ill at ease, or simply impressed by the stallion's sudden landing.

Heart Throb blinked as the bowl landed on her. She felt very embarrassed now. She did not know what to say. She looked around at the others, then at Skydancer. "WHY DID YOU DO THAT, WHOEVER YOU ARE???!!!" She shouted. She flew away and went home at once to get cleaned up.

[[honey, Heart Throb couldn't possibly know Skydancer's name, just like Skydancer doesn't know hers. She was around three years old when Skydancer left Dream Valley.]]
Cascade thought Leaper was rather adorable as he blushed and smiled shyly back at her. She would probably have turned back to him to say something, had Skydancer not suddenly arrived to the scene.
Skydancer grinned widely after the pink pegasus. He did love to play tricks on others. He looked about the picnic party.
"Well, hello ya all!" he said confidently and then looked at Firefly. He presented her with a flourished bow, so that his fringe touched the ground, and then smirked widely to her. "Madam, I am honoured to finally meet you. I am your most ardent admirer." He winked. "Skydancer's the name - and flying's the game."
Cascade, who had been quite startled by Skydancer's arrival, was wrinkling her nose at Skydancer's appearance, and to what he had done to Heart Throb. She disliked rudeness. Dancer, for her part was smiling ever so slightly. Her sense of humour had not completely dissolved over the many years of loneliness. Even if she felt that she should perhaps slip away, as she wasn't much noticed by the party, and she really didn't want to bother anyone. She had become quite reclusive over the years.
