The captain had arrived back hours before his crew was due after having succeeded in drinking his worries away in a local pub. Luckily he knew just the recipe to sober up quick and was back to his mostly normal self, except that it still felt as if an important appendage was missing. Maybe it was his heart, maybe that's what was missing.
Wondering if the mare he had met in the streets earlier would actually show or not, the Captain strode to the port side of the ship and leaned his forlegs on the railing to look out over the marketplace and buildings beyond that always surrounded every large harbor like this and looked no different from one another.

Tetra was sick of roaming the village, so she went back to the ship to get ready. "Argh, I hate those nifty little pink houses!" She kicked a pebble away, grinning slightly. Even if she was quite bored now, she had had a good time in the town, stealing and destroying. Things from the irritating pink flowerbeds to the orderly houses had become victims for her.

Orivy stepped noiselessly up the gangplank and stole over to the starboard side of the ship. She approached Ratskull's back as quietly as she could... until a deck board creaked loudly underneath one careful hoof.

Bala was just behind Orivy. He accidently ran into her backside when she made the deck creak.

At the feeling of someone bumping into her, Orivy's lightning reflexes kicked in. She sprang to the side and turned in the same motion, while one hoof whipped out the gold dagger from beneath her trenchcoat.
Within a split second the edge of the blade was resting at the base of Bala's neck - not at the soft deadly spot beneath the chin, but a dangerous place nonetheless.
Ivy calmly pinned both of her ears back.

"Here, luv," Bala said. He stood motionless, but his eyes were tired."Give a stal a chance. I've been at it all day. If you do persist, I would play the part, but you'll have to do all the work yourself."

Brown ears turned back as the board squeaked and Ratskull turned casually to find one of his best crewmates with a knife to his throat. Crossing his forelegs and leaning back against the side of the ship he caught Tetra's eye and motioned her over to watch the show.
For now he wouldn't interfeer, but if she really insisted on cutting Bala's throat he would have to stop her.

Ahhh. Orivy might even have smiled if she had remembered how to use those muscles in her face. What a refreshment this crew was already turning out to be. She had a knife to someone's throat and he wasn't the least bit intimidated; and the captain stood watching as if it were sport. Thank goodness she had finally found ponies with substance in this cursed Dream Valley port.
"Indeed," she said, drawing the blade away and nicking the stallion minutely in the process - accident?
She flipped the gleaming blade through the air and caught it with her teeth. Her tongue rubbed the blade just enough to draw blood, and she let the blood slide down the blade as she spit the dagger point down into the wood of the deck.
"Four hooves, Captain, and a body I can keep to myself." And she twisted a meaningful ear at Bala.

Kidd could have left the ship. But did she? No. She would have nothing to do with traipsing all over the frilly pink land that they had come to pillage. Besides it was still light out and the black mare much preferred the cover of night to hide her sorry self in.
And really what would she do on land anyway? Flirt with a stallion of two? Kidd snorted at the very idea. What stallion would even give her so much as a passing look now? There were days that she hated the sight of herself, why should anyone else be different.
No, she would much rather stand guard of the precious ship than mix with those rainbow-forsaken pink powder puffs.
She had spent the day sunning her black hide on the deck. No matter how hot it was the mare welcomed heat with open hooves and willingly let the sun strike her coat until it gleamed with sweat. Standing as soon as she heard hooves walking up the gangplank Kidd eyed the Captain, surprised that he had returned so soon. Honestly she had expected no one until just before the appointed time.
Eyes followed the Captain as ears turned listening to more hooves creep up the gangplank shortly after. It was a regular blooming party! Now what in thunder was going on? Had they all gotten tired of the frilly pastries so quickly?

Bala said nothing. He was looking Orivy up and down and thinking what a waste it was keeping one's body all to one's self. It wasn't his call to make, however much he would have enjoyed proving it, so he wiped the trickle of blood from his neck and went off to examine the rigging and sails of the ship.

Orivy saw Bala looking her up and down out of the corner of her eye and snorted to herself.
Stallions.
Some explanation would be in order soon.

Turtlebeak casually stepped onto the ship, a scowl covering her face. The ship, and the crew on it, was the most exciting thing in this dreary town. It was a good thing they could be counted on for entertainment....
She plopped down on a nearby barrel and sat to watch the actions of the crew, keeping to herself, as always.

Tetra caught Ratskull´s eye. She went onboard and calmly watched the "drama". The blue unicorn leaned againt the [[ARGH, brainfart! I cannot remember any part of the ship... But it´s some kind of wall, anyway]], watching the crewmembers. She tossed her blonde mane and threw a longing glance at the pink castle in town.

Turtlebeak saw Tetra walk on board. She began to debate internally about whether or not she should strike up a conversation.
Should I talk to her? I'm perfectly fine on my own.... But I have to start making allies if I'm going to survive here. Well, here goes.....
She turned to Tetra and gestured to the crew. "Amusing bunch, aren't they?"

Orivy cocked an ear towards the new ponies who had boarded the ship, and listened to the few words which hung in the air. She wasn't sure she cared to be called "amusing," and the comment made her less confident in the professionalism of the crew...
She ran one hoof over her dagger, which still stood in the deck, and decided to wait for the captain's word.
