Hollow followed the exchange between Jewel and Roux with an interested eye. He picked up on the little signs of affection between the two, and it made him wonder.
Hollow also picked up on Jewel's timidness about the ship. It strengthened his feeling that the pegasus must be cared after, perhaps more than the other Champions. Subconsciously Hollow still believed that mares were ultimately weaker than stallions, and it affected his judgement. However, it also brought out his kinder side as he walked next to Jewel. He nudged her gently with his muzzle and stepped on the plank, nodding with his head encouragingly.

Jewel let Roux go on with little concern, lifting a golden hoof slowly and placing it on the plank. She didn't really move, however, until she felt a nudge from Hollow. For a moment she was disgusted with herself, seeming so weak, and in the presence of stallions, none the less.
After smiling briefly to Hollow, Jewel swished her purple-tipped tail and continued with little hesitation up the gangplank before stepping gracefully down onto the ship. For a moment, her stomach lurched, but she held her head up and dismissed the uneasy feeling to the best of her abilities.

Roxanne kept still as the ponies organized themselves. She caught the eye of the captain looking at her, and carelessly tipped him a huge wink. But a flash of blue streaked under her eyelid, causing her to jerk her chin up in surprise. Rainbow, right - this is no show, no actors, but the real McCoy... be careful, Foxy, she cautioned herself.
So to change what she was doing, she sidled to meet Jewel as the pegasus stepped aboard, looking rather sick, and leaned slightly against her in what she meant to be a reassuring manner.

Tiger was at first pleased to note that the yellow mare seemed to be responding to him checking her out, but he caught the shift in her expression - even if not the interference of the stripe - and was downhearted a little. Did no mare like him anymore? Well, except for Bridie, of course. Tiger's mind drifted to Bridie, and he found himself missing her. That distracted him while the rest of the Champions clambered on board.
Hollow followed Jewel close, making sure she got on board safely and didn't back off. After she was on the deck, he positioned himself close, just so he might offer her support should she waver. He had been on a ship before, and knew how the unsteady movement of the deck could cause an unaccustomed pony to triple.

<i>"Aye," he said pointedly, shaking his mane almost angrily. "Aye, I haven't forgotten." Then he grinned. "How could I forget the sweet sound of gold in my ears?"</i>
Kail's ears went down in embarrasement as the captain replied; great rainbows but she had no tact today! First Coon and then Tiger, but she really didn't like the company of pirates. Well, no matter, now that they were on board the Champions could do their own thing until they caught up with the other ship. She would be sure to stay very very far away from him.
With a sigh, Kail moved to Razz's side and tried to make herself inconspicuous to all the pirates, and most of the Champions. She had been up since the alarm had gone out early this morning and she was certainly ready for a break and a nap.

(ooc: Not a prob Cresc ^_~)
"Great Gilbert and Sweet Sullivan, I feel like I'm in The Ponies of Penzance."
Coon chuckled deeply before tilting her head back to glance back at the yellow mare. She didn't respond to her exclamation, which was probably best considering the only thing to come to mind was how funny her speech was, and how she had no clue what she was talking about.
Theater, though the concept was intriguing, most stories eluded her attention. The thief was more into seeing the flashy, dazzling costumes and over bearing personalities than the actual plots.
Though, she didn't let her thoughts hinder her ever observing eyes, and had been surprised to see the familiar face take a glance to Roxy. Coon was about to warn the mare that pirates usually weren't the best to flirt back with, but she seemed smart enough, took a hint on her own, and left.
Shrugging, Coon decided to push her sway some and casually stepped up to the captains side. Shaking her head as if in minor disbelief, Coon mumbled, "Mares, fickle beasts."
As Tiger approached Kail, her eyes darted back to Jewel, who seemed uneasy at the most. Coon thought nothing of it, merely writing it off as her recent separation with Peri...until Roux managed a good portion of her attention.
Coon blinked a moment in surprise, before mumbling to herself. "Oh I see how you are. Avoid my moves on ya and give tall dark and rugged all the lovin'." She shook her main in annoyance. I'm tall dark and rugged too, you know...
Though, joking aside, the masculine mare suspected that the peg was glued to Peri Winkle's hip--and his wonderful butt jewel--but glued none the less. Silently she wondered why she was so quick to place her attention into someone else.
It was then Tiger's voice caught her ears:
"How could I forget the sweet sound of gold in my ears?"
Suddenly Coon Skin placed the face with a name. She had heard him say it before! With a grinning, arrogant face Coon came up beside him.
"Tiger? Sea Tiger?," Coon exclaimed, "When did you 'acquire' such a mighty fine boat?"

As Kail moved to his side, Razz gave her a brief nibble on the shoulder. He wanted to ask her about her trip to the valley, but at the same time he couldn't contain his excitment about the big boat and its crew. The pirates were quite colorful. Every time one of them walked by he was distracted by something shiny, like a sword, which he wanted to reach out and touch, but he held himself together -just barely- for Kail's sake.
Kail was looking quite tired to him, too. How she could be tired when they were about to set on on such a great adventure? Even so, he couldn't help but smile as he looked at her.
You're so cute, honeybunch, he thought, not really meaning to send it out. What was worse was he didn't even realize who he'd sent the thought to...

Being surrounded so closely by her comrades brought Jewel more comfort than she thought it would. These were good ponies she was with--the team was well-chosen. It was relief to know, or at least to feel, that there was little need to put up a front around the other Champs. Roux understood now, and Jewel figured the others would find out in due time. Though there were still things none of them knew but the Indigo stripe. They would be informed soon enough.
The yellow peg watched Tiger, the captain, with an emotionless face. She was simply observing, trying to gauge his character.
((I was going to have Cutter intercept Razz's thought, but there are others who might be more amusing, lol))

((Augh! *goes into shock* I'd better post now so I don't fall further behind...))
Quicksand blushed at Cutter's response, getting the distinct feeling once more that she was acting too much like a little filly. She looked around her at all the new ponies, surprised at how quickly they were coming now. It seemed like there would just be more and more of them, but...was that the last one?
There seemed to be a pretty even amount of mares and stallions in the Champions, and she had to admit that it would be nice having some other mares besides Bridie on board. Still, she was much too new to the crew to feel very confident about such an important mission.
Looking briefly back at Cutter, she muttered quickly, "...Right. Of course."

Roxanne couldn't help herself. She spent a moment trying to suppress a snicker, but burst out with a huge grin, and called over,
"Why thank you, honeylips! You're pretty cute yourself!"

Cutter was thus far fairly unimpressed by the new group of ponies aboard. Weren't they supposed to be some big, important, professional-types? The stallion had been under the impression that Tiger's crew was hired to serve some crucial job.
At Roxy's remark, the large and rather intimidating red stallion swished his short tail and rolled his eyes. He turned, with heavy thudding hoofbeats, and muttered under his breath, "Champions, my arse!"
Cutter then headed below deck, to try to rouse the rest of the crew so that they might join their captian.

Shrugging, Coon decided to push her sway some and casually stepped up to the captains side. Shaking her head as if in minor disbelief, Coon mumbled, "Mares, fickle beasts."
Tiger noted this comment briefly. Yes, he quite agreed. Especially with Bridie. He knew he was competing for her attentions with Cutter - and unsure whether or not he was winning. And Roxy's behaviour led him to believe that she perhaps might be more fickle than most. He wondered if he still might have a round of fun with her before the trip would be over.
With a grinning, arrogant face Coon came up beside him.
"Tiger? Sea Tiger?," Coon exclaimed, "When did you 'acquire' such a mighty fine boat?"
Tiger blinked and looked at Coon. It took a few more moments before he could join the face with a name. The sly raccoon face... ah! There it was. Coon! Coon... Spin? No. Slim? That wouldn't make any sense.
"Skin!" he finally exclaimed out loud. "Coon Skin!" He was genuinely surprised. "Never mind the boat - and it's ship by the way - I've had it years, but when did you start a new career saving the world? The last I saw you you were running for your life."
In another part of the ship, noting all the conversation around him with only a passing eye, Hollow was instantly bristled by Cutter's remark. He wasn't really sure why. It wasn't like him to be hot tempered, but he did take the mission seriously, and he resented a pirate suspecting their abilities.
"At least we are doing some honest work," Hollow retorted over to Cutter's retreating backside, making sure he could hear his comment.

"At least we are doing some honest work,"
The large stallion stopped in his tracks, and slowly, purposefully, took a few heavy steps backward, then turned toward Hollow. The owner of the voice was easily identified by how Hollow was watching him, no doubt for a reaction.
Cutter arched his neck, and walked ominously toward the group. He came to a halt a short distance from them, forest green eyes narrowed at Hollow. His temper bubbled beneath his skin. The stallion tilted his head down, and spoke with a low voice like the edge of a sword:
"Perrhaps," He eyed Hollow, "ye'd like t'say it to me FACE instead'a me backside," He heavily emphasized the last word, "Matey?"
The gruff stallion bared a few gold teeth, nearly comparable to the shark teeth hanging from the strap on his leg.

Hollow felt just slightly uncomfortable when the red stallion turned round. He wasn't afraid, but there was something to be said about the intimidating effect of the large stallion. Hollow was smaller in size and had a distinct notion that he would also be the loser if there was a fight between them. He drew his ears back a bit, but stood rigid as Cutter approached him and remained standing in front of him.
Hollow eyed Cutter calmly, hiding every trace of any insecurity. He was not afraid of confrontation, not even with this dangerous stallion. The intimidating effect of Cutter's was slightly lessened by the special vision Hollow possessed. To him, all the strength in Cutter's powerful muscles was slowly fading and crumbling, and it reminded Hollow that this pirate, like nearly every other pony, was merely a mortal.
"All right," he said steadily, readying himself for a possible physical confrontation. "I will. We are on an important mission for the Rainbow of Light itself. And we are in it for the mere duty. You only move for greed. I have never seen an honest pirate, and I doubt I ever will."
That comment was enough to turn Tiger's attention as well. He flattened his ears and arched his neck and narrowed his eyes. His honesty had been questioned too much for one day. But he said nothing. This was Cutter's fight. He would not interfere - not right away.

"I will. We are on an important mission for the Rainbow of Light itself. And we are in it for the mere duty. You only move for greed. I have never seen an honest pirate, and I doubt I ever will."
Cutter snorted through his nostrils. He decided to play Hollow's side of the game, "Fer someone seemin' so high 'n mighty, ye obviously have yet to see much o' th' world. I'm not about t'waste me breath on a pony o' ignorance such as ye self."
The red stallion briefly looked the other up and down, as if to size him up. "It's not me breath I prefer t'use anyway. Ye best stay outta me way, halfling, if ye be at all wise t'what's good for ye."
