The Castle was eerily quiet. The entire place was locked and echoingly empty as the royal family reeled from the theft. None but trusted staff walked the halls that day as they scrambled to restore something resembling security to the place.
Cheif among these was Dragonrose, war hero and diplomat of Dream Valley. Disgruntled diplomat, what with lack of sleep and all. "Since when is castle renovation my forte?" The midnight blue flutter groused to empty hallways. She was using her unique ability to turn the written word into reality to reshape the castle's defenses. Walls and doors were strengthened, and in some cases made impassable but to a select few. Elsewhere in the Castle, other protections were being put in place.
When she felt as if she'd been dragged to the Northlands and back, the older mare shuffled back to one of the guest rooms and collapsed. "Brigid bless, my head hurts." There'd be no returning to her cottage tonight, Quicksilver would just have to survive the night without her. There was still much to do...
Elsewhere, a shaken and weary Sunrunner lay in bed, eyes stubbornly closed against the day. Her magic wasn't of much use at the moment, and she didn't feel like dealing with anything just then. The gentle flutter hadn't been quite the same since the kidnapping, and such an intrustion into her home rattled her. Sigel, her gentle and ageless pegauss husband, cradled her lovingly. He murmured soothingly in her dainty ears.
Suncatcher is twenty now. Sigel looked at his wife sadly. And my beloved has seen forty three years come and go. After so long ruling in peace, she just can't handle strife again...perhaps it is time we stepped aside...
