"Here, I can prove it. I'll bet the shards are in the bin."
"Medley?!" Firefly turned with disbelief to the green stallion. What was he doing? "Medley, stop."
The pegasus looked at him with honest confusion and surprise at his actions. Her expression softened however, both still groggy and also not wanting to be hostile with her friend.
She spoke softly, "Come on, Med.. we have a..," Firefly glanced at the table and the haphazard salad, "Well, we have breakfast. Let's just go eat, ok?"

Medley flattened his ears and stared at Skydancer.
"He must have hid them somewhere else!" he said, not willing to let the matter go. Darn it, he wasn't going to be the one made to look like a fool. "What did you do with the shards?"
Skydancer managed well a completely hurt expression.
"Really, I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about," he said indignantly. Then his face softened and got the expression of someone who is talking to someone slightly off his rocker. "Listen to Firefly. Come eat. Let's just forget about this..."
"No!" Medley shouted, now quite upset, and stomped his hoof. "They must be here somewhere! I heard a shattering noise!"

"They must be here somewhere! I heard a shattering noise!"
"Medley, stop it." This time there was little kindness in the mare's voice. She arched her neck and looked him in the eyes. "Calm down and eat, or.. or you can leave."

Medley swallowed as he met the mare's eyes. Her expression and her voice made it clear to him that he was stepping out of line. His heart twisted into a knot. She didn't believe him! He bit his lip and tried to get himself in control.
"All right." His voice was low and he kept his eyes determinately off of Skydancer as he left the bin alone and walked over to the couch. "But I'd count the plates if I were you."
Skydancer managed to keep his innocent look though a worried thought went through his mind. What if Firefly actually knew the amount of her plates?

"But I'd count the plates if I were you."
Firefly looked straight at Medley, "You. Eat. Now."
With that, she turned with a flick of her navy tail and sat down at the table, managing a wide yawn, as she still wasn't fully awake. She motioned for the stallions to join her.
"Thanks for.. cooking, Sky."

Medley was sobered by her command. He looked rather sheepish as he joined her at the table, together with Skydancer. He was beginning to realise how silly it was to rant about a broken plate. He wasn't sure if Firefly would even have minded it. She was more... careless than Medley, after all.
Skydancer sat right next to Firefly, sprawling himself on the couch close to her, and grinned. He didn't really realise that the breakfast he had prepared resembled a roadkill more than a salad.
"Oh, it wasn't trouble," he said carelessly. "I thought you might like something nice when you woke up." He smiled to her in his most charming way.
Medley sat on the couch, rolling his eyes so that the other two couldn't see.

"I thought you might like something nice when you woke up."
"Aw, thanks Sky.." Firefly smiled and nuzzled him just below the ear, as well as allowed him closer to her physically. "It's.. ..quite a work of art." She laughed slightly, and blew into his ear before starting on her meal.

Medley frowned at the cuddling of the other two. His heart was bleeding, but he fought bravely to keep it to himself. Firefly must not know of his feelings, not now that Skydancer was there to mess up everything. He took his plate and scooped up some of the salad and started eating, a bit grumpy expression on his face.
Skydancer, fully conscious of Medley's sour mood, paid him no attention and concentrated on smiling to Firefly and enjoying her closeness. Casually he extended his other wing and wrapped it around Firefly, pulling her against him, thus leaving his hooves free for taking up his plate and scooping some salad onto it. He smiled to her.
"It was prepared with love," he said with a wink and a twinkle in his eye.

"It was prepared with love,"
Firefly looked sideways at the stallion, blush evident on her cheeks. The pink pegasus kept her cool, eating another bite of salad. "So nice to think it'll all be cleaned up with love, too," She said in a teasing voice, referring again to the kitchen disaster.
"You're a sweetheart, Sky."
Firefly turned to Medley, nudging him softly, "Cheer up, Med.. you look a little green." She smiled, hoping he'd smile too.

Skydancer looked sheepish. He was warmed by her words nevertheless. As she turned to speak to Medley, he grinned to the green pegasus from behind her. Well, he wouldn't mind being friends with the other stallion, of course. If he'd give up on Firefly. Skydancer was not about to back off from the competition.
Medley, for his part, didn't look at Skydancer. He had to smile to Firefly's comment.
"My dear, I was born green," he told her, going along with her joke, and even giving a little laugh.

"My dear, I was born green,"
Firefly laughed too, relieved that the other's attitude seemed to have dissipated. After giving Medley an affectionate pat on the knee, the pegasus consumed the rest of her breakfast. Though it hadn't looked aesthetically pleasing, it still tasted rather good.
Once the meal was finished, Firefly sat back against her seat and sighed, rubbing her belly. Now the pegasus could be considered truly awake.
"What's on the agenda today, boys?"

The other two pegasi ate their meal as well, Skydancer with better appetite than Medley. Medley rolled his eyes to Skydancer's rather undignified way of consuming his breakfast, but then thought to himself that what else could you expect from a vagabond like that.
"What's on the agenda today, boys?"
Skydancer grinned, putting his finished plate away.
"I was going to have you show me around the valley," he said playfully. "I haven't been here in about twenty years. Some things are bound to have changed in that time."
Medley snorted, still continuing with his breakfast.
"I'm surprised you found your way back here at all," he noted.
Skydancer laughed as he gathered his feet under him and then leaped up from the couch, spreading his wings wide and flying gracefully across the table, landing near the trophy shelves.
"No, but you see, I have an unerring sense of direction," he retorted while starting to - apparently randomly - roam through the shelves, looking at the trophies.
To his sudden horror, he realised he had totally forgotten to which of them he had hidden the broken pieces of the plate.

Firefly briefly widened her eyes at the green stallion and frowned, a sign of warning. "Medley," She said under her breath, "would it kill you to be nice? He IS a guest."
The pale pink pegasus cleared her throat and addressed Skydancer, "Sure, we can take a flight around the valley.. not too much has changed, but it's worth seeing anyway."

Medley's ears flopped downwards, he looked rather sheepish but said nothing. He didn't want to take the chance that Firefly would get really angry at him.
The pale pink pegasus cleared her throat and addressed Skydancer, "Sure, we can take a flight around the valley.. not too much has changed, but it's worth seeing anyway."
Skydancer smiled over his shoulder - just slightly too widely for it to be fully innocent, and then turned back to regard the trophies. His brain was working hard to remember which one it was that he had put the shards into. The large one with wings? Or one of the smaller ones? Or...?
"Yes," he said. "I bet there's a lot to see." How am I going to get them out of the room to check all these trophies? He tossed his tail about a bit. "Ummm... you probably want to go back to your home, greenie?" he then asked Medley, turning - innocently enough - back to face the other two pegasi. "Maybe you want to escort him back first, Firefly? I can... clean up the kitchen in the meanwhile?"
Nice save, he congratulated himself mentally.

Firefly pondered for a moment, twitching her nose. She didn't want to exclude Medley from the day's oncoming events, but she wanted a bit of alone time with Sky..
"Why don't we head out, Ponyfeathers?" She looked at her friend and smiled. "Then the yellow whirlwind can hopefully fix the kitchen situation," Firefly eyed Skydancer playfully.
