"Shall we take a round about the Valley, my dear?"
"Iiiiif you can keep up!" The pink pegasus grinned, then shot forward in a spiral that led to her ascending even higher into the sky.
The trees of the forest below them shrank as the pegasus rose higher above them. At the height of her climb, she folded her wings and tilted backwards as she fell into a plummeting freefall.

Skydancer was not daunted by her aerobatics, though when she bolted upwards, he was left behind for a moment. Grinning, he beat his wings as he followed her, spiraling himself, doing loops around her while they ascended. When she dropped down for the freefall, Skydancer flopped open his wings for a moment, to stop himself midair, looking down after her, and then he smiled and folded his wings in a way that made him fall - in a spiralling motion, round and round and round, his hooves extended far ahead and his head low, his eyes intently on the ground. The rainbow mane and tail fluttered in the wind, reflecting the sunlight and creating a visual image of a flowing rainbow. His yellow coat caught on a golden glimmer, and as he set his eyes on the ocean-like blue hair below him, he smiled.
Skydancer closed his eyes after evaluating the drop and the time it would take for him to reach the treetops, before he needed to pull up again. Thus, eyes closed, he took in the wind and the feel of the fall, until he reached the mental mark he'd set for himself, and pulled up again, in a swooping movement just above the treetops, so that his belly nearly scraped them - but only nearly.
He opened his eyes when he was flapping above the trees again, to see where Firefly was.
"I haven't been at the waterfall for a long time," he called out to her, his feet galloping in the air though his wings flapped to keep him still. "How about if we race there?"

The pink pegasus was flying circles around the stallion as he paused in his flight. She hadn't failed to notice the beauty of his colors as he, like her, danced through the air like a graceful bird. Likewise, she had taken both notice and admiration of his skills in the air.
"You're not bad, you know that?" She grinned, in her usual playful manner. The pegasus was truly impressed. However, she wasn't one to openly voice her inner feelings, so simple comments usually preceeded.
"How about if we race there?"
Firefly laughed joyously, and met Skydancer's eyes with an expression of life and vigor. She was in her element, and with someone who seemed to be enjoying it as much as she did herself. Offering a race to Firefly was synonomous with handing her a slice of life.
"You got it!" The pegasus grinned, taking her place a short distance to the side of the yellow stallion.
"Ready.. steady.. let's GO!"

Skydancer watched Firefly with a smile as she flew about around him. Her gracefulness and, of course, skill was making an impression on him. He was happy he'd come across her - and that her reputation was earned. When she complimented him, he had to feel honoured.
The spark in Firefly's eyes when he suggested the race lit up Skydancer's own eyes - and sent his heart racing again. He turned his eyes away from the pink pegasus - even if he felt a little reluctant to - and attached it to the waterfall farther away. He got ready, waited, and blasted off at her mark, extending his forefeet and lowering his head to reduce air resistance.
He beat his wings furiously to get the wind under them, and after catching a good air current he flapped them open, letting it carry him for a while. His eyes strayed from the target off to Firefly, flying at his side, as they proceeded, and the wonderful floating feeling of flying mingled with exhilaration of such companionship.
Because of his attention to Firefly, he managed to get his feathers into a bit of a mix towards the end of the race, however, and an air current caused by the rushing waterfall came as a surprise to him. He tripled on air and lost his balance, and tumbled right into a somersault through the air, landing straight into the little pool under the waterfall, splashing waves high as he plummeted head first into the water.

Firefly slowed as she saw the yellow peg falling from the corner of her eye. Having made the same mistakes many times in her flying career, she quickly ascertained what must have happened.
With a small chuckle, she floated down in a circular descent around the spot where Skydancer had fallen into the pool. Pink hooves touched the water first as she glided symbol-deep into the cool water, wings flared at her sides.
"Skydancer?" She said with a supressed giggle, waiting for him to surface.

Skydancer, quite shamed by what had happened, chose to remain under the water after the fall, holding his breath, when he saw Firefly descend into the water. He grinned a bit and glided in the water next to her, grabbed her feet, and pulled her with him to deeper water, under the surface. Then he let her go and pulled her up with him as he surfaced, grinning and tossing his mane in a rainbow sprinkle of water. He laughed as he kept swimming at the same place.
"A slight miscalculation from my part, madam," he said, looking at Firefly with a glimmer in his eyes. Skydancer wasn't one to get overly embarrassed over mistakes like that - or at least he needed to make fun of it right away. "But a cool bath after the flight does make you feel refreshed, does it not?" He looked at her mischievously, the prankster as he was. "I thought you might like to join me."

"Eep!" was about all Firefly could say before she too disappeared beneath the water's surface.
Once Skydancer pulled her to a different place in the pool, Firefly's head appeared above the water once again, gasping and sputtering slightly, her front hooves churning to keep her afloat. Firefly could only shake out her mane and laugh as Skydancer explained what happened. She wasn't one to take a prank the wrong way, and was quite refreshed by his jesting personality.
I thought you might like to join me."
"Oh, how thoughtful of you!" The pegasus said sarcastically with a smirk, ears flattening for effect. This soon broke into a chuckle as she reached back with her wing and splashed the stallion.

Skydancer was delighted at Firefly's reaction - only after the joke he'd realised she mightn't be as amused. He laughed when she splashed him with her wing, and shook his mane again, his feet working to keep him afloat.
"Of course," he said as he folded his wings again, looking at her affectionately, "as the reason for my miscalculation as a distracting factor, your beautiful self has to be punished now." And he grinned, spreading out both his wings and scooping up water with them, splashing her.

In a surprising moment of femininity, Firefly squealed as she was splashed, kicking forward with her front legs so that the front of her body rose out of the water slightly. However, she was laughing all the while.
"Ohhh, you're asking for it, mister!" The pegasus snorted, a wicked grin upon her face. She paused for a moment, whipping wet navy strands of her mane away from her face, though a few pieces still stuck.
In a swift movement, Firefly pushed herself forward, hooves up over the top of Skydancer's head. Shifting her weight, she dunked him right down into the water.

Skydancer laughed at Firefly's squeal, but when she jumped him and pushed him under the surface, he was too surprised to fight back, and only barely managed to gasp air before she dunked him. He wasn't daunted, however, and as he went into the water, he rolled around from under her hooves on his back and grabbed her hooves, pulling her down with him. Then he spread his wings in the water and flapped them backwards, so that they were both flung up on the surface again. Now he was holding her by the forehooves in an almost-embrace, and looked at her with a smile, his rainbow mane all over his face, dripping wet, only his sparkling dark eyes visible.
"You're quite something, did you know that?" he said gently, surprising even himself with the tone of his voice.

"You're quite something, did you know that?"
Firefly's violet eyes met those of the stallion, slightly wider than they had been previously. It had been so long since she had found herself in such a place. More quickly than she was prepared for it, the feelings so long unfelt returned.. her heart pounded like a hammer in her chest, her nerves tingled and her stomach fluttered just the slightest bit.
In a way, her evening with Skydancer was similar to that of a fantasy.. tearing off into the sky with a charming stallion just as daring and bold as herself, and taking part in fun and frolic with no care as to consequences in the least. Living for the moment, and enjoying every fleeting second of it.
Firefly didn't recoil from Skydancer's touch, nor look away at first. She felt almost dumbfounded as to what to do.. it wasn't often that the pegasus felt caught up in her own whirlwinds, so to speak. For some reason, all the pegasus could do was try to hide a rosy blush, and downcast her smiling face.

Skydancer smiled when he saw the blush on Firefly's face, and her smile, and he felt a comfortable warmth inside him. He had enjoyed their flight together tremendously, and realised only now, there in the water with her, just what he had missed while travelling with Princess Rain. Certainly, she was a prankster like himself, and she had daring, but it was not the same kind of daring as Firefly's. Rain would plunge into danger head first, and take on silly tasks just to prove herself, but she didn't live the danger the way Firefly did. The way Skydancer, too, did.
He realised Rain had a bit of a crush on him, but it was the infatuation of a young filly. To make her blush was like to give a pet to a dog - but Firefly's reaction felt special to Skydancer, her apparent admiration of him touched deeper in his heart.
The day had been wonderful ever since he'd met her. The rush of adrenaline and the rush of very life itself was still heating his blood, and though this was different approach from how he had behaved with her so far, it still was in line with his "spur of the moment" way; he leaned in to kiss her. Just on the lips, carefully, afraid that she might turn away, but needing that, needing it right now. Just to forget everything and feel her warmth.

Firefly's world spun slighty as she felt Skydancer's lips upon her own. Her body flooded with warmth, and she returned the kiss with equal passion. Perhaps she was loney.. perhaps it had been too long since she felt this way.. but regardless of its source, Firefly wasn't going to abandon it all now.
As they pulled apart, an unavoidable thought came to the pegasus' mind: What significance could a kiss like this have, so soon? He had said he admired her already, but still, it was so fast.. then again, life was fast, wasn't it?
Firefly did her best to dismiss her questioning thoughts and focus on the evening at hand. This was living, this was thrill and a bit of reckless abandon, and that was what she lived for.
...wasn't it?
Right now, things didn't have to go past right now, this minute, this hour and this day. It was about now, and she had to admit that she liked the 'now'.
"You're quite something yourself.." The pegasus seemed to respond at last, but also at a loss of what else to say.

To Skydancer's delight, she answered his kiss, with as much passion, and he tucked his wings in closer just so they wouldn't tremble. He hadn't felt that way about a kiss ever before. When they pulled apart, he looked at her with a bit of wonder and warmth in his eyes. He knew before the kiss, as he knew now afterwards, that this was an affair on the edge - too soon, too quick, yet... it was the way he wanted it. And her comfort, right now, was what he needed.
"You're quite something yourself.."
Skydancer smiled, and leaned in to nuzzle her on the muzzle in what was meant to be brief - then he somehow forgot his muzzle there, so they stood in the water nose to nose.
"We should probably get out of the water," he murmured, his other hoof trailing along her neck to her spine, then along the muscles of her shoulders. But he wasn't moving.

The pegasus felt tingles rush through her body at Skydancer's touch. The thrill of the moment was far too enticing to bother taking heed to logic or even to the sense in her mind.
A mischevious, warm spark reflected in Firefly's violet eyes, but she couldn't say she felt with the same passion that Skydancer did. In any case, it was both refreshing and intruiging, among other things, to have someone seem to care for her so. The pegasus couldn't help but be flattered.
"We should probably get out of the water,"
"Yeah..." Firefly, too, stayed where she was, breathing softly against Skydancer's muzzle.
And so the two stood in the pool by the waterfall, soaked to the bone and fueled by a fire within.
