Kail was used to ships, especially the big ones that took the voyage back and forth to Course, and she found her sea legs just fine as the ship set sail. It helped that she was able to hold her wings out just slightly to help her keep balance, but even had she been an earther, Kail was very fond of the sea.
She had been standing near Razz, eyes closed and facing into the wind so it blew through her sky blue mane and tail, sending them rippling out behind her like waves. As Roxy bounced over she opened her lavendar eyes and smiled. "I feel much better now that we are off. I was very unsure about this to begin with, and even more so when tempers flaired, but I think we will all get along fine now."
Sneaking a look down at Razz, who was still mumbling to himself about cabbage, she smiled again.

Roxanne nodded seriously. "I caught that whiff myself. Hopefully the gang'll keep themselves under wraps for the most part - by the by, I'll always be willing to step in if anyone's letting their tongue run away, just gimme a shout.
"So you like the sea then, gal? Funny thing, I've never been out on it, but I guess a near quarter-century of keeping the hooves to a wooden stage makes them right at home on deck. Whew, that makes me sound old, don't it?"

Kenaz stood up and gave himself a good shake. "I'm fine." He grinned. "You flutters don't weigh much. We should find a place to hide for awhile, though." He gestured with his muzzle towards where he had stashed the bag.
Rain shook herself. Then she looked round, and back at the porthole. Then a wide grin spread across her face. They had made it! They were off to the adventure now! She jumped up just a little as she started toward where Kenaz was pointing.
"Yes!" she said, nodding happily. "Let's find a good hideout!"

On the deck, Tiger was enjoying himself thoroughly as the waves rocked the ship and the wind blew, throwing his mane over his face, and catching the sails. He loved nothing better than this feeling, and started suddenly feeling very generous indeed. He glanced down toward the Champions.
"Hey, earthers!" he shouted down to them. "Anyone want to see what it's like to direct a real ship?"
They were out in the open sea now, so the most damage anyone else in the helm could do was to throw them slightly off course - and that was easily corrected, if Tiger remained next to them at all times.

"I appreciate that Roxy. I'm sure you'll know if you're needed, we always do." She looked back out to the sea before her, the black spec of the other pirate ship nearly lost on the horizon. So long as they could keep it in sight they would be ok. And if they lost it she could always fly ahead of them. Her mother had made the trip by flight... twice... so Kail guessed she could too.
"So you like the sea then, gal? Funny thing, I've never been out on it, but I guess a near quarter-century of keeping the hooves to a wooden stage makes them right at home on deck. Whew, that makes me sound old, don't it?"
"No, it doesn't make you sound old. I'm gaining on a quarter-century myself," Kail looked down at the second symbol on her chest knowing that she didn't near look it. She looked up again at Roxy with a smile, "and yes, I love the sea. Both parents grew up on the coast, and my mother lived on some islands we'll most likely pass on our way out." She didn't bother to add that they were deserted, but she didn't feel she needed to. That would lead to many questions and she didn't feel like repeating that whole story - it was much too long.
Turning slighty so her fish symbol would be clear, she nodded, "I've got a lesser known power too, sometimes comes in handy on the sea." In fact, that feeling that she always got near the ocean was calling to her now - it was her mother's other family singing as they rode the waves the large ship was making.
(OOC: background: Kail's mom has the power to talk to all the animals in the ocean, which would have been Kail's only power if not for the circumstances leading to her birth.)

"Are you sure you don't need to... uh... be sick?"
Jewel shook her head, and took a moment to try to gather herself. It was more the unsteadiness of the rocking boat than the nausea that afflicted her at the moment.
"Try to breathe in as calmly as you can."
"Thanks, Hollow," The mare smiled briefly. "Any idea where.. where I could get some sea legs?" She laughed softly.

Roxanne raised an eyebrow. "Missed a lot not coming along with you gang last quest around... I guess I'll know a call if I feel it, then."
"No, it doesn't make you sound old. I'm gaining on a quarter-century myself," Kail looked down at the second symbol on her chest knowing that she didn't near look it.
"No kidding! You don't look it." Roxanne grinned good-naturedly, hoping the indication of youthfulness wouldn't offend the other mare. "And I'm a bit more'n that myself, but the theatre didn't call me for a few years, doncha know.
"Ah, the parental units. I hear that, sister."
One of Roxanne's ears cocked forward and the other laid back when Kail mentioned another power. "Magic, eh? Do I want to ask?"
As soon as Kail had finished replying, Roxanne heard Sea Tiger's offer and her head whipped around. That's generosity I wouldn't have expected!
She whistled gaily between her front teeth up at the Captain. "Hellfire yes, Cap'n sir! Room for a mare at least?"
She glanced at Razzaroo too, whom she thought might be interested. "You in, 'Roo?"

"Thanks, Hollow," The mare smiled briefly. "Any idea where.. where I could get some sea legs?" She laughed softly.
Hollow smiled. He noticed himself smiling so often now that it would have made him nervous had he come to think of it.
"Maybe you could ask to borrow from one of the pirates," he said playfully. He was still not especially good at joking, but he gave an effort. "Or I can carry you. I seem to keep my balance rather well."

"Not magic so much as intuition I think," Kail said, "or maybe just listening really hard." She would have continued except for Tiger's calling out to the Champions. She had no desire to learn how to steer the ship, but she thought it would be nice to offer whatever help she could give.
Nudging Razz, who she knew would jump at the opportunity to steer the big ship, Kail made her way over to the captain. "I'd be no good at steering sir," she held up the compass she always kept around her neck to emphasize her lack of dirrection, "but if you need a lookout I'd be glad to help." Before he could reply she opened her wings and let them catch the wind, soaring back a few feet before making her way up to the top of the sails and then shooting back down for a gentle landing.

Tiger didn't hear the conversation between Kail and Roxanne, but smiled to them when they turned and accepted his offer. Well, he would have been rather offended had no one taken it up.
He noticed that not all the Champions were making their way up to the helm. He took a closer look at the tan pegasus. She looked sick. He figured she wouldn't be feeling much like trying her hoof at steering, so he searched out for some vacant crewmember. As it so happened, Cutter was the first to catch his eye.
"Hoy, Cutter!" he shouted down. "Why don't you take the rest of our guests below? It looks like the little lady over there isn't feeling so well."
After that, his attention was drawn to the sea green pegasus making her way up to him. Kail had caught Tiger's eye from the moment she set foot on the ship. As she came up to the helm now, Tiger admired the way the wind blew through her sky blue mane. She had just his kind of colours. He had to admit he had always had a thing for sea-themed mares. And how could you get any more sea-themed than her? Too bad she seemed to be hitched. Well, that hadn't really stopped Tiger before. He smiled confidently and was about to ask her if she'd like to try her hoof at the helm first, when she spoke.
He lifted his eyebrows as she took up into the air and flew to the top of the sails and then back again. d**n, he thought to himself, he wouldn't have minded a pair of wings himself. His attention was quite on her now. Wow! What a sweet piece of sea-green fur she was! He tossed his tail and smiled widely.
"My, we seem to have a real mariner aboard," he said with a wink. "I warrant I've rarely seen a mare more suited to sailing than you, my dear."

"Thank you, sir," Kail crossed her forlegs and bowed. It was kind of fun, being on a pirate ship. Maybe Razz was right to try to befriend them afterall. "I've always been near the sea, and my grandfather was a sailor."
She looked around the ship quickly before turning back. "I've no idea how to actually sail a ship, but I'll help as much as I can. We all will I'm sure." Looking back over her shoulder again to Jewel and Hollow she smiled, "as many of us as are able."

Razz trotted dutifully behind Kail as they came up to the captain. He didn't have any idea how to steer a ship. Kail was the one with a knack for sea-things. Razz thought there was a good reason the rainbow had made him an earth pony. Still, given the chance he might give it a go. When would he get another chance? At least the pirate was taking an honest interest in them now.
Razz watched Kail's arial manuevers. He was unnaturally quiet. Sometimes words were not enough.

Roxanne wrinkled her nose quietly at the lack of Razzaroo's enthusiasm. She had thought this would be just his cup of tea. Well, she supposed didn't really know him that well.
"Cap'n, reporting for duty, sir!"
Eyebrows up, she turned to Sea Tiger, and then followed his distracted gaze up to Kail. She whistled again through her horsey front teeth, and waved a hoof at the skies.

Tiger grinned to her. Oh, yes, indeed, this one made his neck hair tingle. She had style, she did. As Razz made no comment, he felt a little braver. Perhaps she wasn't as seriously involved as she had first looked when they had come on board together. Or maybe he was her brother.
"Aye, any help'll be appreciated," he said with a nod. "Though you make sure to stay out of Cutter's way there. I ain't responsible if he hacks one of your hoofs off for you getting on his way." He winked to her.
And then he found himself overwhelmed by the presence of mares.
"Cap'n, reporting for duty, sir!"
Eyebrows up, she turned to Sea Tiger, and then followed his distracted gaze up to Kail. She whistled again through her horsey front teeth, and waved a hoof at the skies.
Tiger swished his tail about as he turned now to smile to the yellow mare. He felt blessed with angels. So many fine mares here! He didn't know to which one of them focus his main attention. And thus he flirted with them all, trying to keep it discreet enough to have all doors open.
"Aye!" he said to Roxy with a laugh and a glimmer in his eyes. "You wanna try your pretty hoof on the helm?" He stepped back a little to allow her to come closer, holding one hoof to the helm.

Roxanne was no dull blade. "An embarassment of riches, eh?" She grinned good-naturedly to show that she meant no offense to the Captain; she realized he always had the potential to turn dangerous.
Her ears pricked up as he stepped away from the helm, and she took her opportunity. "Aye, that I do!" And with a sort of awe, she stepped up and put a cautious hoof on the helm, acutely aware that they weren't standing on a stage. Check it out, kiddo... the real deal...

"Yes, sir, I will keep that in mind," Kail said with a grin to herself. She wasn't afraid of Cutter hacking off a hoof, or any other part of her body at that. So long as he stayed away from he neck they would get along just fine.
Stepping back next to Razz she gave him another little nudge - he was being very quiet. Unnaturally quiet. Maybe he was just in awe and doubt at the pirate ship? "Are you going to give it a try," she whispered as she nodded to Roxy who was now at the helm.
(hehe, told you Nura. ^_^)
