Skyflier was standing on a hill, watching the beautiful sky. She smiled as a soft breeze picked up her red mane and played around with it. Skyflier loved being outside, and it was where she was mostly at. She was hardly inside her cottage.
The mare sighed. "I wish, I wish I could fly." She whispered. She turned around and noticed she was still alone. She looked back up at the sky and smiled.

The unicorn looked around her. She heard the wind make its way around her. She let the breeze blow her mane around, letting some locks fall on the side of her horn and over her eyes...
Skyflier then looked up, looking towards the bright blue sky. The sun was beginning to set. Skyflier sat there on the soft, ripe grass. The sun was a beautiful orangish yellow, and there were soft, pink clouds around it. The small hills distantly away from Skyflier were covered in the sun's rays, making the hills look a bit orange themselves on the tips. Skyflier just loved watching sunsets. She never missed one sunset, well, she had missed a few in the past, but she tried to watch all sunsets now. It was her favorite pastime.
((Anyone's welcome to join her! ^^))

[[cont. from the Mother and Son thread]]
Moonstone had not been back to his mother's cottage for the whole day, save for the dinner, during which he had been quite in his thoughts. He was practicing his magic again, trying to get his thoughts off of the bad omens he had read in the sky lately. Now he was standing in the shade of some trees, his eyes closed, concentrating. Slowly a fluttering image of himself was beginning to emerge out of nowhere right before him. It shifted and shimmered around the edges, and then finally became solid.
The double Moonstone opened his eyes. He could see through his projection's eyes, and smiled, satisfied, as he looked behind him to the shade of the trees where his actual body was standing, rigid and still. He then closed his eyes, and poof, the projection was gone again.
Moonstone opened his eyes and looked around. He could see a little hill quite some ways from him. He didn't come to notice there was a pony standing atop the hill, as he closed his eyes again and concentrated.
This time the projection appeared behind Skyflier, a few steps behind her, and without the shimmer and transparency, so that it appeared that a unicorn had just winked in behind her. Moonstone's real body remained in slumber out of sight, while his projection body now blinked and looked at the orange unicorn right ahead of him. The breeze caught his mane and tossed it about his head, and his pale blue body was painted with an orange glow as he looked at the mare.

The pinkish orange unicorn then heard something behind her. She quickly turned around and saw Moonstone. She blinked a couple of times. "Hello." She said to him, turning to face the stallion. She wondered if he was there to see her, or if he was looking for her, or if he was just there because of the sunset...
The sun's rays made Skyflier appear more orange than she normally was. She let the soft, cool breeze play with her red mane again. She slowly closed her eyes, and then opened them again. The wind had stopped. Skyflier smiled at Moonstone.

Moonstone pricked his ears as he stepped a little closer, slightly hesitant. He had not met the mare before, and he had not expected to meet her here.
"Uh... hello," he said sheepishly, scraping a hoof on the grass nervously. "I... I'm sorry. I didn't realise there was anyone here."

The unicorn mare watched as Moonstone spoke to her. She looked down at the grass, thinking to herself. She hardly talked to stallions these days, after what happened with her and that one other unicorn, but Skyflier was trying to forget that, it was in the past.
She looked back up at Moonstone. "Oh, it's alright. I don't mind at all. My name's Skyflier. What would yours be?"

Moonstone smiled gently and stepped forward, to the edge of the hill where Skyflier was standing, and looked out to the sunset.
"Moonstone," he said, nodding to her. His gaze went far across the horizon and to the sky. "It is beautiful, isn't it?" he asked, without making especially apparent what he was talking about.

The mare watched as Moonstone stared at the sunset. "Yes, it is very beautiful." She responded, looking out to the horizon as well.

The reddish unicorn kept watching the sky, watching as the pink on the sky faded very slowly, and as the light of the sun became dimmer...

Moonstone smiled, watching the sunset. The colours of the sun painted his body with a lush warm red, and set his rainbow mane into a brilliant glow. He almost wished he might have been there in full physical body.
"Do you often look at the sunset?" he asked her, having nearly forgotten having company.

The mare unicorn turned slowly to face the stallion again. "Yes, almost everyday." She said softly, turning back to the sunset. The sun made her skin appear oranger than it was, and her hair appeared to be an orangish red, with the white streak standing out on its own.

Moonstone looked at the other unicorn with slight more interest now. He had not met many with the same passion for the sky and its elements.
"Truly," he said, half statement, half question. He nodded and looked out at the dimming sky. The colours on their furs were beginning to die, and the favourite time of day for Moonstone was beginning. He looked up now, to the strands of dark violet and blue that were painting the above sky now. "I quite... enjoy the sky myself. I suppose I spend more time awake at nights than on days." He gave a soft laugh.

The mare giggled a bit and looked at Moonstone. "Well, I do like to spend my time out here sometimes at night, but not as much as some ponies that I know of who love the dark..." She turned back and looked at the sky, remembering a soft melody that she knew of....

"It's the stars," Moonstone said quietly, smiling. His voice and eyes were dreamy as he looked up, waiting for his favourite kind of sky to creep up. The blue and the violet were slowly taking ground towards the horizon, but as they went, they were followed by blackness that would soon bring the stars with it. "The stars are the map of the skies - for life, for the world, for everything."

The mare listened to Moonstone's words. She watched the colors of the sky slowly change as the night came to them. Skyflier hummed the melody she was thinking of.... then started to sing it... "Midnight, not a sound from the pavement. Has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone. In the lamplight, the withered leaves collect at my feet. And the wind begins to moan...."
She then slowly closed her eyes, and opened them again. She had forgotten for a second that Moonstone was there. She just kept staring at the sky...
