"Well, what good is my power, if I don't even use it?" he asked a little fretfully. "I never thought myself such a fool to let my... errr, my......My concentration on the mission get blurred."
"Oh, Hollow.." Jewel shifted on the bed, making herself comfortable again. She lay her head on her left foreleg, moving the other hoof to touch Hollow's mane comfortingly, "The team needs each of us for its own reasons.. the Rainbow wouldn't have chosen us if we weren't needed." She paused, stroking the stallion's mane in as soothing a gesture as she could. Jewel added softly, with a smiling quality to her gentle voice, "None of us are perfect. And I for one, am glad you're here."
While it was Charisma's job technically to pump up the troops and keep the morale high, Jewel realized that it might have been she who held influence over Hollow at that moment, and she desperately wanted to help her friend in any way she could.

Hollow closed his eyes as he felt the mare's touch on his mane. Mmmm it felt... good... in a way he had already forgotten how it could feel.
He smiled a little at Jewel's words and opened his eyes to look at her. There was a warm expression in his golden eyes.
"Thank you, Jewel," he said softly. "I guess... I haven't had a friend in such a long time that I've quite forgotten how to have them."

"Thank you, Jewel," he said softly. "I guess... I haven't had a friend in such a long time that I've quite forgotten how to have them."
"Mhm," She responded sleepily, moving to rest her head with closed eyes. Rainbow, was she tired. And all this peaceful talk was quickly lulling her to sleep. Her nose nuzzled slightly in Hollow's mane, and she responded softly, "You can never.. forget how to love someone. It'simpossible..." She trailed off.

Hollow smiled as he watched her close her eyes. She was so tired. Then, the touch of her muzzle in his mane made him tense.
"You can never.. forget how to love someone. It'simpossible..."
There was a pang in his heart at those words. But coming from her... He was about to say something in response, he hardly knew what, but he realised she was drifting off. An affectionate smile touched his lips instead. He stood up quietly and brushed his muzzle over her forehead, then took a blanket and pulled it over her to keep her warm.
"No... not even when you try," he whispered quietly while watching her relaxed shape under the blanket. Sighing, but more out of regret than pain, he turned and walked to his own bed. There he stopped for one more moment and looked behind his shoulder. A thousand thoughts went through his mind, only to stop at the end to only one.
She can never be yours. And you are a fool if you believe you could ever be hers.
Closing his eyes, Hollow leapt on the bed and curled under the blanket. Perhaps morning would bring peace.

Roxanne gave the Champions a bit of time after dawn broke to let them sleep. We're not going anywhere on this ship faster if they wake up earlier, right? And she was tired herself.
But a couple of hours into morning, she poked her nose into the room where Jewel and Hollow were sleeping.
Hm, she thought dryly. That Periwinkle would like this all right.
"Hey chaps..." she said softly, stepping into the middle of the room and yawning. "Curtain's up, new day babes..."

(sorry about the lack of posting. Had planned a post like 2 days ago, comp froze and lost it. But for the most part I'm current on recent events)
Day break had not been long past when Coon sat haphazardly hung over at one of the randomly strewn stools on deck. On another stool that she had dragged to her side was a game of solitaire that the thief had managed to scrounge up...
Though, by now, four-five games later, Coon Skin had realized that the ace of diamonds and Queen of clubs was missing. With pounding, throbbing head, she wordlessly flipped, moved, and arranged cards to her liking while taking liberty to bend the rules to accommodate her lack of a full deck. Still she managed to lose every time.
But her mind wasn't presently in the game. Between the hammering in her head, she was trying to piece together what little she recalled the night before and the little tidbits of gossip about the ship. Roughly her mind had painted a gory image of the incident involving Jewel, Kailani, and the Princess. It was unsettling, leaving an anxious itch in her stomach.
It was a reminder of the past two battles she'd come to be in.
A card was half flung, half slapped down on the stool as Coon lowered her golden eyes to stare at her hooves. These hooves had killed. For generations her family had one simple rule to guide them on their rather interesting course of life, to do no harm. Sulkily she folder her hooves under her, closing her eyes in simple thought, wondering how her father; her hero; thought of her.
Rainbows I've killed twice AND I've been arrested...I'm such a failure... A sigh heavily escaped her. Coon mumbled, "Ugn...D*mn hangover talking..."
Rubbing her temples she fumbled as she took to her legs. "Man, I never should've stopped drinking. You don't get hangovers if you don't stop drinking!"

come back to me Razz. You promised you would never leave me alone for very long.
I was never really gone, love. Razz's voice floated out to Kail, though only briefly. Would it have even been heard at all? He didn't know, but it didn't concern him either, at least not at the moment. There were too many other things swelling and turning in his mind. He fell back into darkness.

((wb, Sil!! We missed you!))
"Hey chaps..." she said softly, stepping into the middle of the room and yawning. "Curtain's up, new day babes..."
The only initial movement in the room was a twitch from the golden peg's wing, which promptly unfolded and drooped over the edge of the bed to the floor. Otherwise, Jewel made no sign of having any interest of rousing from her much-needed sleep.

[[Yes welcome back!!!!]]
Hollow snapped awake at once at the sound of Roxanne's voice. He stumbled up from his bed and looked sharply around. When his eyes caught the Blue Champion, his muscles relaxed just a little.
"Oh... good morning." He shook his mane a little and glanced at Jewel, who was still asleep. He had to smile just a little. It had been a hard day for her. He looked at Roxanne again. "Is there something the matter?" It was, somehow, the first thought in his mind that something must be wrong.

Princess Rain had slept soundly all through the night, taxed by the exhaustion of her magical display more than the blood loss. As the morning broke through the window of the little cabin she'd been left in, though, she blinked her eyes open and looked around with a yawn. When she recognised the wooden walls and the swelling sea outside, horror of last night hit her and she jumped up.
"Hey, my shoulder's healed." She looked at her shoulder and moved it around in a small circle. Then she smiled happily. "Kail healed it!" Her face dropped. "She must be angry with me for coming though." She pasted her ears against her head and drooped her head. Then her face brightened again, though. "But I helped to get her out of the pirate ship. Maybe she'll forgive me."
She looked round in the empty cabin and furrowed her brow.
"I wonder what's happened to Kenaz. Hope he's not got himself into trouble." She sighed and shook her head. "I had best go find him. Oh, Skydancer, you should have been here!" She sighed again and climbed off from the bed. She trotted to the door, opened it and glanced around in the empty hallway outside. She fluttered her wings a little thoughtfully. Where to go? She didn't want to get lost but the ship seemed so huge to her.
"Well, I'm sure I can't get lost on a ship, after all," she finally concluded. "I mean, there's only so many rooms to go to."
With that, she started off trotting, hoping to find someone she could ask after Kenaz. And also hoping to find Kail. She figured the sooner she'd apologise, the sooner they could get on with the adventure.

Tiger saw the break of dawn from his place at the helm. Quietly he watched the morning sun glimmer on the endless waves and paint the horizon with its multitude of colours. The speck that was the other ship could still be seen in the distance. He sighed and rubbed his chin with one hoof. Ratskull, huh? Well, he supposed it was better than what he had been afraid of for a moment. It would have been just like Barnacle to throw a stupid stunt like this.
Yawning, Tiger's mind went back to the two royal ponies around. He'd need to figure out what to do with them. The Champions would have no claim over them, that much he decided right then. He'd keep them for security. Yes. Security that these Champions would not try anything funny when their bargain came to its end. Rainbows or no Rainbows, he wasn't about to trust anyone with any connections to royalty. You couldn't trust them.
His eyes wandered on the deck until they hit Coon Skin. He smiled a bit. The thief didn't look especially well. He still couldn't figure out what the hell he - as he still imagined Coon a stallion - was doing there anyway. What was he doing in such mighty company? Trying to grab a hoof-ful of some bounty himself? These Champions were an interesting lot. Claiming to fight for good, were they, and yet they hired the scum of the earth to help them.
Casually he called again a boy to keep the helm in course and then trotted casually down toward Coon. He got to the other pony just in time to hear his comment.
Rubbing her temples she fumbled as she took to her legs. "Man, I never should've stopped drinking. You don't get hangovers if you don't stop drinking!"
He grinned and slammed a hoof on Coon's back, by way of a friendly slap at the back, but strong enough to topple a medium sized stallion.
"Aye! Wise words, m'friend!" he said and chuckled. He sized the other pony up. "You should talk to Cutter. He'd fix you right up with one of his potions."

Roxanne smiled at Hollow. "Relax tiger, no pressure. Wake up slowly, it feels better. Nothing's wrong, I just hope we can all have a good chat today and sort things out, ye ken?"
She stepped over to Jewel and lightly tickled the end of the pegasus' extended wing.

Hollow shook his head a little to chase off the rest of the dreamy sleepy feeling while Roxy spoke and walked to Jewel. He watched quietly. Oh. Yeah. Chat. He slinked his ears backward and drooped his head just a little. He, of course, knew nothing of the plans Roxanne and Jewel had made last night.
"Uh, Roxanne... do you suppose," he scraped the floor with his hoof a little. "Suppose you could... could kind of... uh, talk for us? I, uh, I tend to mess things up whenever I open my mouth these days."
Somehow, saying it was now a little easier. He wondered why.

Roxanne smiled at Hollow while she continued to lightly tickle Jewel's wingtip.
"Sure thing Heart, what's your feelings?"

The golden pegasus twitched upon Roxy's touch, but took her sweet time in waking. The presence of the yellow and blue stripes was comforting, else Jewel might have woken up straight away. One wing flapped as Roxy persisted, sending a draft through the small room. Slowly, Jewel was returning to consciousness.
"Mmmrrrgghhboat in the waffles... yeah?" The pegasus mumbled incoherently, eyes blinking sleepily. Through half-closed eyes, she looked at Roxy as if she had just managed to ask a sensible question.

Roxy's tinseled hair blew slightly in the draft from Jewel's wing, and she left off tickling the pegasus to quickly plait her mane and tail to keep them from tangling.
She bent down as she braided, and sniffed at Jewel's face.
"Waffles darling? Definitely a boat though." She smiled.
"Good morning sunshine."

Hollow shuddered again when she called him Heart. That name just went straight through with a sting like dagger thrust through his heart. No. That wasn't his name anymore.
"I..." he watched as Roxanne continued waking Jewel up. "I just hoped... you might be able to... talk some peace." He shook his head and walked closer. "We should get all the Champions together and have a meeting and see about a plan. I think it may be best you be the leader, Blue." He looked at Roxanne. "You seem to be the only one getting along with everybody."
Well, he didn't really know about the red and the orange, but they had been scarce during everything that had been going on, and the purple was obviously out of the game for the time being. Besides, Charisma, he figured, was what they needed to pull the group together. Friendship ought to have helped, too. He wondered where Moon Crystal had got to. He hadn't really seen the mare since they'd boarded the ship.
